CBS owned CW affiliates to drop CW affiliation and go independent

Scripps is blatantly playing out the string with the CW on KASW and KWBA, two stations that are currently prevented from carrying all Arizona Coyotes games due to the CW’s stringent requirements to air almost all primetime programming in pattern.
The irony of that statement that the CW insists that primetime be carried in pattern is that Nexstar-owned CW station KDAF/33 in Dallas/Fort Worth (Nexstar's home market) routinely delays CW primetime programming for high school sports coverage.

how many people watched the coyotes locally? they're barely get a fanbase since they moved from Winnipeg since 1996. just ask someone in Atlanta about hockey even after the relocation to Winnipeg in 2011 as the new Jets

Coyotes are reported as having a 0.16 rating in 2021-22 season. Scripps said in their Q3 Earnings Call that Coyotes ratings increased 900% compared to when they were broadcast on Bally Sports Arizona last year.

And in Phoenix, the Arizona Coyotes' ratings have increased a whopping 900% of from their RSN distribution last year. The equation is simple. More audience reach generates higher ratings to deliver Scripps significant new revenue right now, primarily through incremental and meaningful core advertising revenue growth and higher distribution revenue for the independent stations on which they air.

WADL throws a monkey wrench into WMYD keeping CW by a cease and decist

I'm sorry but if WADL wanted The CW, then they should've NOT dropped it. It's like a job interview. Once you turn it down, that's it. The job is given to someone else. You can't ask for it back. Boo hoo to Adell. Move your feet, lose your seat.

Better idea Fox buys WADL turn into a MNTV O&O or Graham buys WADL

Sorry to burst your bubble but why would Fox or Graham be involved with this? I don't think that will happen.

I think The CW affiliates in Austin (Nexstar-owned) and San Antonio (Sinclair-owned) do the same for high school football. Don't know if they still air coverage but comes to show that football is quite popular in the state of Texas.

Circle is sunsetting at the end of 2023

on 57.5 in philadelphia

what will it be replaced with?
Likely one of two diginets that Gray Television and Jonathan Katz are launching, both with content from Warner Bros. and Lionsgate:
If Katz’s name sounds familiar, it’s because he helped launch Bounce, Laff and Grit in an extensive partnership with Scripps, prior to Scripps buying out his stake in those diginets.

As does WPCH (Gray) and WPNT (Sinclair). High school football doesn’t take up much real estate and the primetime programming can be delayed until after the game or to the next day.

It’s not the case in Ohio due to the state’s absurdly arcane rules that forbid live OTA TV coverage of high school football. Taped? Sure! Live? Nope.

Fox doesn't have a duopoly unlike in LA, NY, Orlando, Seattle, DC, etc
FOX2+ in Detroit as a potential duopoly brand for WADL

So? Tampa Bay, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Austin, and Milwaukee do not have Fox O&O duopolies. What's your point? Again, why would Fox get involved into anything else in Detroit?

The whole point in the cease and desist is to prevent The CW from airing on WMYD and back to WADL because of the (struggling) Nexstar sale from Adell (which may not happen at this point), not to convert WADL into a MNTV O&O.

If Nexstar dosent want WADL, Fox does next

I doubt it. I believe the last time Fox bought a station was in 2019, four years ago, and both markets included Fox stations. I don't think Fox would want to overpay for the station like Nexstar/Mission would/is. Going through Fox's press releases, their main focus is now investing in and growing Tubi. Look at ABC, NBC, and CBS they have also stopped acquiring stations and now mostly focus on growing their streaming services.

is tubi profitable along with peacock and paramount plus and how many people watched NBC News Now, CBS News Streaming, & ABC News Live? Also does the streamers care about journalism if wall street only cares about entertainment and sports as a streaming must have.
