RIP 104.7 The Fish

After running a loop redirecting listeners to 104.7 saying they would become Radio Nueva Vida. The 92.3 and 106.7 hd2 signals is now airing Klove 90s to compliment Klove 2000s on those signals. I never even considered this I wonder if 92.3 will flip to Radio Nueva Vida after they take control of hd2 and 3 on 104.7

The sale has just closed and 104.7 is now owned by EFM. The application to go non commercial is still pending that was filed 2/27 so I’m not sure when the hd2 and hd3 will ditch Salem am stations. But once the non comm is granted they have to ditch the Salem commercial feeds.

The sale has not closed only granted by the FCC. It usually takes 2 or 3 weeks and sometimes even more for the sale to close. So it is not owned by K-Love yet. Often I observe the closing happens near the end of a month and almost always Friday at midnight.

Even when the application to convert to non-commercial is granted it does not take effect until the closing. I sometimes see the application to non-commercial not granted until after the closing.

air1 is reporting audio issues for 104.7 and for some reason 92.3 is on the air but silent. was promoted as radio nueva vida but ended up k love 90s but still runnung air 1 graphics now

Well I finally got my answers about 104.7 hd 2 and hd3 today. Despite running liners on 92.3 that it would flip to Radio Nueva Vida they debuted K love 90s on 106.7 HD2 feeding 92.3 translator. That translator has had no feed for at least several days and the legal Id on 106.7 HD2 still includes 92.3 as of last night for sure. Well when I got off of work I checked 104.7 and it had hd2 and 3 showing and I see HD2 is Klove Pop (pretty much what Air 1 was before going modern worship). HD 3 is the spanish language modern worship format Air 1 runs called Musica de Adoracion.

Would EMF ever consider selling off some stations to curate their portfolio?

I was wondering if iHeart would consider buying back 105.1 out of Clermont as a twin-tower solution to 105.3's lack of coverage to the northeast. How many stations does EMF need northeast of town?

When Clear Channel sold it, it was a class A licensed to Helen (CC had used it on occasion as a twin-tower fill-in for 105.7 in its WGST days). Now it's been upgraded to a class C3 licensed to Clermont, and there's a CP to upgrade it to a class C2.

As soon as the merger dust settles, I look for iHeart to "merge" 105.3 and 105.7 on 105.5.*. The Chattanooga 105.5 is moved. In return 100.5 is allowed to upgrade and iHeart downgrades WSSL. The result would market covering 105.5 and 100.5 in Atlanta which is worth more the a Greenville or Chattanooga station

*They might have to do a double swap of COLs and maybe move 96.7 west to cover 105.3's COL if 96.1 doesn't cover Bowen and move or 94.9 COL to cover 96.7's COL requirement. Canton has a "real" commercial station so they could use one of the "new" incorporated towns.

They're not really contiguous signals. Yes, the fringe coverage areas come close, but there's quite a space between the 60 dBu signals.

105.7 back in the WCHK days moved from 105.5 to upgrade. That opened up the 105.3 signal in Bowdon (originally WYAI, to use the old callsign for 104.1).

105.5 is owned by Audacy...I don't understand why iHeart has to downgrade WSSL for Cumulus. What does Cumulus give up?

It doesn't work the way you want it to. You can't just "merge" two allotments. Even if you could minor change 105.3 to 105.5, the FCC doesn't allow you to delete the 105.7 allotment.

Sooner or later Cumulus and Audacy will be merged (or go bankrupt again). So Audacy / Cumulus get 100.5 upgraded and iHeart will get 105.5 Chattanooga out of the way for 105.7 to move to 105.5 and increase power.

The 105.3 actually goes back to Bowden via 96.7 moving or 96.1 covering Bowden (which would be a stretch) 105.7 goes to 105.5. The COL of 96.7 could be covered by 94.9. then that allocation could moved south of the market as class A to an "unserved COL

Swapping COLs to move stations has been done before like when 95.1 (class B) COL of Parkersburg WV got the COL of Elizabeth WV* (without moving) so they could move the Class A from Elizabeth to Parkersburg. If a COL has multiple commercial stations, I thought a station can move it's COL to an un served COL.

* The is no way Elizabeth WV could ever support a radio station.

Still doesn't work the way you want it to.

Even if you take 105.3 back to a class A, there's nowhere you can move it that's far enough away from Atlanta to allow for a full-market 105.5 in Atlanta.

There are also current FCC rules to take into account. If you don't have a full understanding of the Urbanized Area Rule, you're missing one of the big limitations to any new move-ins or upgrades.

Much sharper engineering minds than mine have spent a lot of time looking at any more potential upgrades that could still be done. This one isn't one of them.

Could they run 105.3 and 105.7 together like Y106.7 and Y104.1 were ran as one station (which I always thought was suspect)
