I did leave out KRBE-FM, and for good reason. They went through that horrendous "Hits Without The Hype" phase. I want to say around this very time period we're talking about. Vividly remember it coming out of a break and sounding bland and lifeless against the almighty Q-Zoo, to a teenager.
*Barely above a whisper into the mic*
"Hits without the hype, 104 KRBE...this is Tears For Fears".
A Top 40, with all the personality and energy of Classical. Pee-yew!
I remember the KQUE jingle only because that was my uncle's station of choice. He'd sit there for hours on end, listening to KQ, a cup of coffee at his side, and working one of his crossword puzzles.
A big thank you, Mark. Great topic you posted here. You've brought back some fond memories that've long since been stored away. I've really enjoyed the trip you and the 🐸 have provided down memory lane with this one.
