George W. Bush got a shoe thrown at him (arguably justified) and all he did was duck.
I'd like to expand on this and make some observations:
For all his flaws and shortcomings, I feel that George W. Bush is a
far more decent person than Trump will ever be....
And while he was definitely a terrible and mediocre president (for reasons everyone I'm sure knows and which I don't want to discuss here), he was still much better at
being a president (for what it's worth, his speeches and addresses during and immediately after 9/11 seemed concise, eloquent and thoughtful, and while the things he did subsequently were wrong, he did at least get that right). He never lashed out and went after the media, either (in fact, I think he actually took all the criticism and negative press about his middle eastern follies rather well, but I could be forgetting something).
Consequently, I'm not surprised that W is an outspoken Trump critic.
And no, this isn't looking through "rose-tinted glasses". This is an honest observation (at least it's trying to be). On the balance, I thought he was a bad president then and I still think so now (again, I don't want to go into detail here). It's just that Trump is like 10,000 percent
worse, and he continues to outdo himself and get
more worse every day (that's quite an accomplishment!)
