“Days of our Lives” to move the hourglass to Peacock

Pluto TV soaps said when they launched it more soaps were planned but only Young & the Restless and Bold & the beautiful have aired. General Hospital would most likely go to Hulu but I don't see that one going anywhere anytime soon.

Young & the Restless I don't see going anywhere either but could see them cancelling Bold and the Beautiful as local affiliates expand their local news to an hour as both ABC expanded their news to an hour in most markets after Port Charles ended and NBC affiliates explanded to an hour newscast in some markets as well some I the 90's and some the 2000's after Passions ended.
the 9am and 3pm slots might be useful for an hour long B&B pushing Y&R but LMAD might be shifting to a different time at least before Price is Right.

Also we seen All My Children and One Life to Live cancelled then moved online in for a short lived time.

FIRST - Port Charles was on ABC (Not NBC) however The Doctors was cancelled by NBC in 1982 as NBC affiliates on the East Coast pre-empted it in favor of newscasts (They also ultimately pre-empted (Or never cleared to begin with) Search For Tomorrow when it moved from CBS for the same reason)

SECOND - Bold & The Beautiful will NEVER be cancelled should CBS decide to move it off the network (The fan would REVOLT like there was NO tomorrow). THE ONLY viable solution for them would be to move it to Paramount+

THIRD - All Pluto TV Soaps does is air NOTHING BUT B&B & Y&R continuously after the episode finishes airing on CBS everywhere except maybe Hawaii dued to the Time Zone difference

No, they'd just cancel it. The fan(s) is/are primarily in a demographic that is shrinking (due to mortality) and undesirable to advertisers. For many of the people you assume will "revolt," there pretty much is no tomorrow, and you can't blame CBS for that!

Rumor is they have approached Proctor & Gamble (P&G) about streaming some of their now cancelled soaps (most likely ATWT, GL, AW) and P&G declined stating that P&G is out of the soap business.

Source of rumor?
I read that an actor who was on a P&G soap had stated she was told this. But because I didn’t hear her say it in an actual interview I consider it a rumor. However I do find it believable as the only cancelled daytime “soaps” that can be streamed or are in reruns are “Dark Shadows” and “The Doctors.” P&G did have a number of episodes from the 80s (I believe) available on an AOL channel (pre-streaming) years ago. You’d think they’d want to try and monetize old episodes in their vault by licensing them for streaming or selling them to someone else to air.

I believe B&B has a strong international following. I'm sure CBS makes good money from it.

LMAD airs before TPIS.

Bradley Bell, the Executive Producer and President of Bell-Phillip Television Productions (co-owner of the show) has stated he has turned down offers from CBS to expand B&B to one hour.

That would devastate some CBS affiliates who prefer to air local (not syndicated) programming at 9am or 3pm instead.

If P&G really is outr of the business, why doesn't P&G just simply SELL THE LIBRARY to someone like Pluto TV or declare them Public Domain?? (Afterall, it ain't like you can't find like 1000 ATWT episodes on YouTube)

If true, thio tells me P&G really IS NOT out of the business

People in their 70s and older, from my experience, are the ones who are hit and miss. I know some who use Internet and e-mail but don't know the first thing about streaming. Others aren't on the Internet at all. There's always been a wide range of comfort when it comes to computers for the people that were already adults when computers started being more widely used in the mid to late 80s.
Electronic computers were developed during WWII but were almost exclusively for scientific and military applications. Business apps came along in the 50's (banking and accounting). Much more widespread apps in the 60's, 70's and early 80's but then personal computers took over in the last two decades of the 20th century. It wasn't until the mid 80's that the average non-IT person became aware of the plethora of 'civilian' apps available to them. Now they are everywhere. It took a very steep decline in the cost, size and operation of computers to host the wide variety of machines and apps we have today. And the intersection with networks and 'other' apps such as point of sale and robotic apps blew the lid off the industry. Now you can't get away from the damn things. ;)

Others here will call me a Luddite, and that is partially true. I spent all my post-military working life in the computer industry but not any longer. Now computers are just another tool. I still build my own computers but not for the sake of the machine or software itself but mostly out of curiosity (does my brain still work?) or cost. 2 of my 3 sons also built their own computers. One has two full rooms of his house dedicated to his data center and the other has but one gigantic machine that dims the streetlamps in his neighborhood when he goes gaming. Neither work in the computer industry.

Don't forget that the average person didn't know about networks until the 90s.

Agree they should just sell library. Doesn’t make any sense they don’t want to try and monetize their assets. But if they were still in the business why wouldn’t they attempt to have those YouTube videos taken down, as they did when the shows were still on the air.

Dick Van Dyke books guest role on Days of our Lives.

One of the regular cast members since 1970 is 97 year old Bill Hayes (Doug Williams). How cool if he and Dick Van Dyke, another 97 year old, have a scene together.
