The more I listen and the more I read the press release, the more I think this may actually be a stunt.
Get ready for an exciting week of music (why not just say the format? Maybe a new "format" every day kicking off at 10AM every morning for the next week?)
Beginning today, 96.9 FM returns to music with Power 96.9, Boston’s Hip Hop and R&B station with more surprises to take place during the upcoming week. Followed by Variety 96.9 tomorrow? and 96.9 The Yacht on Friday?
Hmmmm.... really makes you think.

There were times, I think, when JAM'N 94.5 and KISS 108 sounded nearly identical. I know they're sister stations, but still...
So now in less than a year, we had format changes to 103.3, 101.7 and now 96.9. JAM'N 94.5 better get their act together quick, or they'll be next.
I also see that Hartford has been mentioned. We had Clear Channel change 104.1 of Waterbury go from (Alternative) RADIO 104 to POWER 104.1 in 2003. The call letters shifted from WMRQ-FM, to WURH-FM and then WPHH-FM. It was done, in part to stop the bleeding with sister station WKSS-FM (CHR) KISS 95.7. They were getting killed soon after CBS (Infinity?) switched WZMX-FM 93.7 over to hip hop/R&B HOT 93.7 in 2001. By about 2007, it was clear that Clear Channel lost this battle and threw in the towel at the end of 2007, bringing alternative back to 104.1, changing the name slightly to RADIO 104.1-WMRQ (their previous call letters from 1994 to 2003). Clear Channel would later sell the station off to Red Wolf Broadcasting of New London County. I believe they were over a cap, in part, due to moving in WUCS-FM 97.9 of Windsor Locks/Hartford from the Springfield, MA market to the Hartford market (today, that station is 97.9-ESPN, carrying the Yankees, the NFL and NBA).
So now in less than a year, we had format changes to 103.3, 101.7 and now 96.9. JAM'N 94.5 better get their act together quick, or they'll be next.

Maybe a 5pm there will be another format change like someone said in another post lets see

Why cant they just flip to the official format instead of us listening to several?
Someone mentioned (maybe it was on this board) that the best way to start a new format is to completely get rid of the previous format's listeners.
I suspect that every older male white Republican who used to listen to WTKK has by now either shot his radio (with his fully-licensed hand gun) or has tuned to WRKO.
If Entercom is smart, they might put WRKO back on the HD-3 of WAAF and WKAF to help fill in the Metro West holes in WRKO's signal or even lease WCRN to duplicate the entire WRKO schedule.

Narrow playlist, high turnover. High cume, low TSL. Sounds like your typical Urban to me. No surprises here.
Actually, from when I've tuned in, its mostly current, but its semi-broad-based. I have heard some recurrents and older songs, but not so much on older material.Da Mac QC said:

It also takes time and effort to load all of the music in the system, if they even have one! I mean, they were talk for 14 years!
