Yeah I noticed that today too. I was listening online and thought something was just off online, but then checked in my car and it was the same. It sounded nothing like the song when hearing it on the other stations, but then again I've only ever heard it on the radio or in a remix so I don't really know how it actually sounds. But didn't sound like Justin Bieber that's for sure.
 
I wish they could have keeped Power 969 cause this station is just like everything else in Boston its annoying maybe ill just listen to my ipod till something good comes :(

Why is Urban "hardcore"? Urban could be talk from the Reverend Al Sharpton. It could be gospel, such as Mary Mary and Kirk Franklin. It could be Neo-Soul, like Ledisi or Maxwell or reggae, like Tarrus Riley I think white people's vision of urban is "hardcore" because they can't imagine black folks doing anything but gansta rap.

That's because it wasn't Bieber's version. It was Big Sean only.
 
So now that everyone knows what the format is, can we send this thread to the semi-retired thread bin (which is where the long-time annual Christmas flip threads go) and someone (probably raccoonradio or Joe Gallant) can dust it off once per year for a little while just like Joe does with the annual Christmas music flip thread. My take on this is that it sounds good but, like others have said ease back a bit on Rhianna I must have heard her whole hit list today. And yes i"m in the demo there targeting just a male and i heard music which i haven't heard in a long time which is nice. Its only the first day now so give it sometime!! thanks
 
Two things Hot 96.9 should do right now:

1) Add way more imaging

2) Speed up and pitch up the music a bit, for an energized sound that sets them apart from competitors

I asked this question a few pages back. It's definitely not Bieber or Big Sean - it's a cover. But I don't know who it's by or why they are playing that version...almost seems like a mistake. But, it could be on purpose. Maybe their aim is to offer something different. That's certainly different! lol

I was thinking that there not pitching up the song like the other stations do so now he sounds like a man instead of a kid?

I Shazammed it yesterday afternoon, and all it came up with was "As Long As You Love Me" by As Long As You Love Me. No artist was actually listed. Probably one of those knock-off versions they sell for a quarter on iTunes.
