100.3 To Become ....

You gotta be joking. Dwight Schrute is a disc jockey? Looks like a joke site to me.

On ning.com?

If Bonneville is up to this, then it's totally a stunt. I may be groggy and half-asleep - but even I can see that.

Plus ... isn't Bruce one of the big mucky mucks in Bonneville leadership. I'd remember but I'm ready to fall back to sleep. Bruce ... rats cant remember the name.

Bruce Reese, i think?

Total stunt. Not buying it as a permanant format. Goodnight.

Briefly they played "Once in a Lifetime" Talking Heads then dumped out of it and now it's back to Bruce.

"Bonneville International will start Bruce Radio on 100.3FM. It will be all Bruce! For the first time in history, the music icon will be the focus behind an entire radio station dedicated to his music and his legacy."

All Bruce Springstein? Even worse!

Maybe it'll be funny in the morning. Wonder when we'll find out what the real format is.

Talking Heads in the system at 100.3? Along with Bruce Springsteen.. with large gaps and pauses between the music. So far, this stunt sounds like small market college radio. Thumbs up!!!

At 1 AM, the legal i.d. aired right smack dab in the middle of a song. They dumped out of the song, ran the legal, then rejoined the song in progress. I wouldn't have put something this unprofessional on in a small market like Lompoc even if it is a stunt.

Stations that go to this one-artist-only format as a stunt generally are leading up to a format that plays that artist. There was an all-beatles station someplace that morphed into classic rock, and there was, in Fresno, I think, a "K-Garth" that morphed into Country. I can also remember an all Led-Zeppelin station that turned into a classic rock when that stunt was over.

I cannot recall any instance where a station stunted with all music by one artist, and then launched into a format that was completely unrelated. But, maybe someone in here can remember a situation where that happened.

On the basis of the Bruce choice, and the fact that this is Bonneville we're talkin' about, I would think this is going to be some kind of a drive-ish rock-based classic hits, since PPM arrives in LA fairly soon and PPM tends to favor rock formats.

AAA would be nice, though.

Animatronic may be right, although you have to remember there have been just as many change format stunts in the radio world where the stunt was totally different than the format that followed.

At 7:59am this morning the same voice who is doing the Legal Id said, "In just 2 hours, 100.3 FM will make news, BIG news." Then liner was followed by Garth Brooks - Thunder Rolled, which was followed by Elton John's "Sorry seems to be the hardest word"

I can totally see this as a NEWS format or something of that nature. This will be a great thing for Bonneville being in California (LA). This will give them an outlet for their LDS programming as well. They might be able to do something like KSL in Salt Lake City which is newsradio. Also, I noticed when vacationing in Utah over the years that TV or radio network programming was often interupted to show LDS church programs. Well, can't wait to see what the format will be but I will bet that this staion will be used in similar fashion as an outlet for the LDS church.

Bonneville does not use its stations to directly promote the Church.

KSL is news/talk. Only WTOP is all news.

I'm unfamiliar with this; what kind of radio programs are you talking about?

I'd bet you $1000 that they don't.

David nailed it... Living in SLC and being LDS, I know that things are vastly different in Utah as far as what is broadcast. B'ville owned KOIT in San Francisco and I think never or hardly ever broadcast LDS events or programming. Sure they throw in LDS PSA's but I would venture to guess that the only LDS-oriented programming they may bring to LA might be Music and the Spoken Word on Sunday mornings. They have to compete in an intense market and pre-empting regular programming for Church broadcasts is probably next to impossible in their eyes. That said, I understand the LDS population in the LA area is quite large, but I don't know for a fact on that.
