102.5: this month's format

If The Cromwell Group is reading this board maybe there is a chance for George FM. The sponser could be the George Foreman Grill.

I wonder if all this is a prelude to the Oldies format? If they were "just" going back to the Party, wouldn't it make sense that 102.5 have a day of stunting called "Scott" All Oldies for an Oldie? After all CR, why do we need George, when we have Scott? Just playing Scott, I am just out of AM and have nothing better to do than stir things up...

Tibbs,
Now I'm laughing my butt off on that comment, good one! HE, HE!

I was on the phone with Dan Lopez, Program Director for ABC's Hot AC Format this afternoon. He thought that some station up here was changing to Shannon's "True Oldies Channel" in the Nashville Market, at least that's the word that is spreading around ABC/Citidel's Dallas Offices where the format deals are done. Still, don't be surprised if "The Party" doesn't come back and Shannon's Format goes on. It's hard for me to get a "heads up" around Dallas, as sometimes ABC won't tell us affiliates anything until the last minute.

The website changing all the time is to keep the parties that need to read yellow book at the checkout stand at Wal-Mart called, "Radio Programming for Dummies" all stirred up. You must keep the public stirred up to keep intrest. Believe it or not, it will help a station's numbers, with "The Catch of the Day"!

I emailed the program manager on "Frank" day.

I love Frank, but is this a permanent change? He wasn’t what I was expecting to hear this morning when I tuned in to my favorite station!

I finally got a response this morning:

Stay tuned Leah, exciting change is coming to your radio dial. Thanks for listening. Best - th

The website is also down tonight. I'm seeing an "Apache test page".

Lon Sosh is on there playing oldies and it does get into the Nashville Market with it's low dial position and 2500 watts, daytime.

sorry...Big Daddy Bobaloo (Lon Sosh) and WRUS do not have listeners (or a 'listenable' signal) in the Nashvile market.
kinda like another station we hear about but can't actually hear.

If the poster above was Zach(k?) B, formerly of mid-Tenn...

Always good to hear from you, Zach, even if you poke a little fun. I miss that radio station page.

I interrupt this thread to remind you this is The Cromwell Group. Whatever happens after "All Frank", "All Led", "All Garth", "All Starland Vocal Band" or whatever "stunt" format that happens will more of the same.

I remember when he put up his billboards in Clarksville saying "Big Daddy Bobbaloo is back!" ::) I remember asking if anyone even remembered whenever he was there before! The answer was a resounding NO! ::)

Big Fatty Bobba-loser is a legend in his own mind! ::)

Whatever else Cromwell has accomplished...

this week, they have packed in the commercials. What are the odds the special announcement at noon is: "We're sorry. We have tried programming this station so someone will listen, but we failed. We're shuttin' 'er down. Thanks for your support."

That would require honesty, and just like politicians, radio station owners/operators/management can't tell the truth, even when it is plainly obvious to everyone else!

If what you suggest was an option, 97.1 would have done it some time ago!

I'll agree that there are probably no listeners here, but 610 comes in loud and clear all the way out here between Lebanon and Watertown during the day. It's one of the stronger daytime signals here.

makes sense with the low dial position...are you hearing it in the car or at-home?
I remember how far 540 WDXN Clarksville used to get out (I listened in Louisville in the 60's)

Sad, but probably true...

Judging by all the responses the forthcoming format flip have generated, the number of listeners tuned in at noon today will likely be the highest ratings the station has ever had.

Home and Car. There is a bit more noise on it than 650, but it has a full, clear sound - equal to how WAKM sounds here (950). It sounds decent even on the portable I have for working in the garage - but sounds clear as a bell on the Grundig S350 (a phenomenal sounding radio aside from the drift).

Lots of pops on there today. I might be picking up some of the energy from the storms coming across Kentucky this afternoon.
