105.3 on air

Checked this last week... was able to pick up K287BQ, with stereo pilot, sitting at the Buc-ee's in Waller, TX... Couldn't pick up KTWL reliably until I got to Hwy 6 and 290.

Copy that, Sunday night in Spring near I-45 and Louetta, K287BQ is coming thru as Radio DaBang - KTWL has now been wiped out in north Houston and Spring.

This feels like dejavu. Didn't this exact same thing already happen once? Why is the FCC even playing around with Centro something something Cristo and Roy Henderson?? They are wasting both parties time. Just deny the next application for the translator since it's obvious both stations are too close. The translator needs a new frequency.

It's about time.

As of 7:30 this morning, K287BQ is still on the air, cranking out the Bollywood loud and clear at I-45 and FM 2920. I was reading through the complaint from Henderson, said something about Dabang paying Guel $40,000 a month to lease the translator... Guess that explains all of these translators popping up.

Don't expect anything to be done till the deadline gets near.

Wow that's a lot of money, $40,000 a month? Where does Dabang get that from?

At least we now know how Ghoul makes his money.

Dabang has plenty of advertising... I heard a couple of ads for car dealerships the other day, along with various Indian businesses...

Not too sure if I'd consider it BS, when the translator covers the entire Houston metro and then some...

Even the best Houston-based translator covers what Nielsen calls "Harris Inner", not even all of Harris County. "Inner" is like a hole in a doughnut; it is the center part of the county.

The "Houston Metro" as defined by Nielsen is called the Houston Metro Survey Area and consists of these counties:

Austin, TX
Brazoria, TX
Chambers, TX
Fort Bend, TX
Galveston, TX
Harris, TX
Liberty, TX
Montgomery, TX
Polk, TX
San Jacinto, TX
Waller, TX

The 100,000 watt FMs on the Senior Road tower barely cover this total market.

Most of the translators don't subscribe to Nielsen, so they will not be listed in the book, even the ones that that go to subscribers only.

$40000 sounds like BS for a translator. $4000 might be believable.

Yes. There is no way a niche format can be making enough to pay nearly a half-million a year in rent, plus operation expenses.
