105.3 on air

Yes. There is no way a niche format can be making enough to pay nearly a half-million a year in rent, plus operation expenses.

These things aren't necessarily about making money though. One of the translators here runs a loop on RDS that IDs the format, then says "a Rehan Siddiqui station."

If that's not an ego stroke, I don't know what is. Listeners likely don't care.

Hobby for guys with more dollars than sense?

A quick google search brings up a Facebook group that is throwing some pretty disturbing accusations towards Siddiqui.

It's as if all these translators attract nothing but drama.

Signal is still a-blazing... drove up north today, K287BQ was loud and clear up until I-45 and Loop 336 South, where KTWL and K287BQ started fighting with eachother.

The station will continue just not as strong, but strong enough.

"Strong enough" for what?

It's (assuming legal operation by "Apostle Guevara") 60 watts. Even if it is at over 600 feet HAAT, 60 watts is pretty much below the power needed to be heard well anywhere.

Strong enough to be heard Galleria and all that area where most of the south Asian community either lives or works.

But weak enough as to not interfere with KTWL? Probably not. The station needs to move frequencies or further lower its height.
Or KTWL should move too, before K287bq came to Houston KTWL wasn't heard here in downtown.

Downtown happens to be more important in markets than Spring Tx or Hempstead.

You've got it backwards. Translators cannot interfere with 'real' stations.

What? This doesn't make any sense.

This isn't how any of this works.

The interference isn't in Downtown. It is in Spring, Katy, Cypress, The Woodlands, Tomball, and even Conroe (the translator isn't even supposed to reach the latter three).

This doesn't matter to the FCC. So why bring it up?

As a matter of fact, it seems that Downtown doesn't even matter to the owners of the translator either. They're leaving downtown instead of lowering their height/power and moving to the San Felipe Plaza tower near Westpark

The only real solution for the translator is to move from channel 287, move further south, or to go below 100 meters HAAT.

it up?Thats what I said KTWL should move closer to Houston so it can be listenable to you guys who are all complaining about K287bq and how it affects this station. I personally can care less, neither station fits my needs. I don't have either set up on my radio preset. And I bring it up because THE FCC allowed them to cover so much in the beginning and only after it started receiving complaints from people did they request the signal to downgrade.

It's not about the needs or usefulness, it's about the rules. To quote Walter Sobchak; "Smoky this is not 'Nam..."

And I bring it up because THE FCC allowed them to cover so much in the beginning and only after it started receiving complaints from people did they request the signal to downgrade.
"Allowed"?? Well, that depends on what you mean by "allowed".

Were KTWL able to move closer to Houston, someone wudda' bought it and done it. It's technically locked in where it is.

That is how translators work. If they are given a permit, but a higher class of station is interfered with, there is a procedure to register complaints... even if from outside of the protected contour of the interfered station... and the translator will have to change frequency, directionalize, lower power or cease operating. FCC rule.

It's been 34 days since the FCC ordered that K287BQ eliminate the interference... yet they are still on the air, destroying KTWL. Good times.

I'm almost certain now that Ghoul has connections in the FCC... He's up there, I already suspected that. But I didn't know he was *that* big.

I doubt Guel has anything to do with it.

1. Who is broadcasting on 105.3? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hFI2uLDJc8

2. Who are they programming to? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uZBjzhykE4

3. Watch videos of the monthly FCC open meetings and notice who goes around testing microphones and computers. http://imgur.com/a/uxXuH

4. Then consider who is now the top dog at the FCC. What is his ethnicity? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajit_V._Pai

I rest my case.
