105.3 The FAN comment

metroneck said:
[EDIT]. Call it what you want, but my point is the Fan is getting some scoreboard sing BG came aboard. Oh, you're right...Cowboys must have popped em up a bit in Sept, then Rangers. Hell, now it's hockey season, maybe the stars will carry them through the winter..then...maybe some other SPORT helping get audience on a [EDIT] SPORTS station.

[EDIT]

[EDIT-disruption]

OK dude- here is why you are wrong. PM sports broadcasts will show up in the ratings, but if you actually look at the ratings for sports talk shows, the Fan didn't make any ground on the Ticket at all.

See- the real measure of ratings for a radio station- the numbers they use for billing, etc, are how the SHOWS do.

It doesn't matter if every one in Dallas tunes in for a Rangers game, if only three people and a trained chimp are by their radio the next morning when the Jagger show comes on.

This is all about who wins AM drive and PM drive. Period.

Oh, and the Stars are on the Ticket, not the Fan. And the Rangers will be on ESPN next season.

So I guess we will see how the Fan's ratings look come April. Feel free to chime in and admit how wrong you are.

I'm not wrong, bc I never made a claim past the concept that 'The Fan is coming around since BG arrived' That's all I said, and all I'm saying. Actually downgrading their talent. I know for a fact their revenue is way up past 6 months versus last, and they are finally hitting their budget. So no, dude, I'm not wrong. You interpreted the ratings I posted, i posted the facts....the interpretation can be sliced six ways to Sunday.

ticket bills more, much better AQH, better everything except POWER and LOCATION. My point is that POWER and LOCATION are finally getting them on the board with little talent. Pull KRLD FM 6 month trend versus same sample 2009. Let me know what that reads like. Holla back

The only way I'd listen to the Fan is if they start airing Jim Rome and steal the Dan Patrick show and air it live.

I totally agree with this statement.. My question is: Aren't they both live at the same time?

Yes, they made budget and trended up- because the Rangers carried them. Their daytime programming is still getting beat like a red-headed step-child. All the power and location advantage in the world can't overcome terrible programing.

Without baseball, that upward trend won't repeat itself in 2011. All that Rangers-induced cume WILL wander down the dial to 103.3- and it will take the added revenue with it. Just watch.

November book, men 25-54, weekdays from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Ticket 9.2 (1st)
ESPN 5.0 (5th)
The Fan 4.0 (tied for 8th)

The problem Bruce is going to have is that there already is a Ticket in this market. So if he's going to try and recreate a sports itensive, but guy-talk friendly, irreverent station...well...the originator is already here...

To really succeed, they'll need to be something the Ticket isn't.

Well, they suck at pulling in men 25-54...the ticket doesnt do that...

Oh, you mean something positive? How about flip the format? Just blow it up, go a different rout...what does Dallas need that we don't have/haven't had in a while? (and don't say a good CBS radio station)

One has to wonder why is this station still around if it has this much dislike....

I've tried to listen to greggo and the spare, but just cannot. Whitt is a good writer, but unfortunately that doesn't translate to the radio. Don't listen to any other day part, so no other comments.
