Wow, I've never had that luck. 103.3 covers the Spartanburg area way better than Greenville from my experiences. 103.3 is a difficult catch on a clock or portable radio even in Simpsonville if you don't like a little static. During tropo, I have heard static blips on Woodruff Rd.
The main problem I have with 103.3, especially during tropo, is interference with 103.1 and 103.5 as you get further to the south of Gvl county.
Ideally, these stations should be paired. That's why 103.3 signed on in the first place, to fill in the holes from 103.9. 103.3 goes further, but 103.9 penetrates much better due to being a full 6kw. I personally would take the solid Greenville and Pickens county (with better penetration, and decent reach in to Anderson and Spartanburg) 103.9 offers than the further reaching, but less penetrating and more static/interference prone (in Gvl county, the core of the market) 103.3, if I had to choose between the two.
