106.1 the breeze

So you were seven years from being born when those two songs were hits. Another member of the "Outlier Generation" heard from! (Outliers being what radio folks call people who don't conform to the general profile of their age/race/ethnicity group.)
I grew up listening to this music. If you saw my iTunes library, you would be so confused. I listen to everything from girl groups of the 50’s. Flower power of the 60’s, disco from the 70’s, R&B from the 70, 80, 90, & 2000’s, rock and pop 70’s and 80’s, majority of top 100 songs from every year from 80’ and 90’s. 2000’s and on is mostly pop and alternative rock.

This skews heavily toward 2010s and recent music. It’s hard to differentiate this type of playlist from that of other AC stations throughout the country. This does not give me a compelling reason to listen to the Breeze anymore.
The post 2010 list isn’t accurate really because they are going to play those songs more to fill up the slots since they play fewer currents and recurrent/gold titles. When you go back to around 2009 and before, it’s a completely different story, the playlist gets wider and the songs are played much less because that makes up more of the library meaning less spins.

I’m a bit older (ok, 10 plus years) but glad you like it. It may grab a few WMMR and WOGL etc listeners I think who may want a change of pace.
I think you might have hit the nail on the head here. The Breeze will have its Dentist/Doctor Office core, but beyond that they really are a "change of pace" station for listeners of many other stations (heck, I'll go there when I need a change of pace from Sirius XM). Given that niche they need to ensure they feature songs not heard on "every other AC"; and despite all the back and forth on here they seem to be doing that.

Yeah, they are totally using the Soft Rock AC station on IHeartRadio app. They pretty much are using the same jingles and music list. The dead give away is the 3 parts variety jingle. 1. Playing the best songs from the 80’s 2. Playing todays hits and 3. Playing the greatest songs of all time. It will be only time they drop relaxing from their name.

Are you sure WISX is using the Soft Rock feed from iHeartRadio? I don't think they are; compare WISX to a Premium Choice AC.

I would think iHeart Philly is putting in a bit more effort than that here, considering this particular competitive landscape. BTW: Has anyone else noticed B101.1 getting a bit softer/older after the holidays? For instance, I heard them playing "Up Where We Belong" by Joe Cocker & Jennifer Warnes the other day. It's been a loooooong time since I heard them play that one.

B101 is not as 80s heavy as other ACs, but they still have to be careful not to cannibalize WOGL.
