106.9 the new home for Pulse 101.7

Wow that often? how do you make any money with format changing so often like that? also isn't it expensive to get new libraries? or is it one of those that the company already has the music as another station in a different markit programs a simular format .

Why does radio-locator list 101.7 as country? was that a former format?

WDVH-FM 101.7 was a "classic country" format up till the sale to MARC Radio. They carried Dial Globals sat format except for Jim Brands morning show and Swap and Shop. I believe it was simulcast with WDVH-AM in G-ville.

As for Radio Locator updates, licence changes are picked up fairly quickly from the FCC datebase, but formats, station slogans, ect are left to the station owners to update. And even when you send things in it sometimes takes them awhile to update the site. I got an email from the guy who runs the site after submitting an update once and it seems to be a one man operation. So in the case of 101.7 who seems to be in format purgatory, I doubt MARC has made it a high priority to send the needed updates to R-L.

Well at least they know it's still also on 101.7:

106.9 Pulse FM shared a link.

Yesterday.

We are currently having technical issues with our 106.9 transmitter. You can listen to PULSE FM on 101.7 or by clicking the link below. We will let you know when we figure out the problem with our main transmitter.

They actually had it fixed before I knew it was gone. At the distance I live (Live Oak Lake City area), I can somewhat get My107.1 from Tallahassee in a car even with 106.9 being on. ...XL every once in a while if conditions are just right.

901Rocks, do you have ears on this yet?? I called a friend who lives in Levy county and he said he heard what he called "techno dance" music on 101.7 this morning with female liners in a "techno voice", whatever that is! Yikes! Can they still be stunting? This CANT be the new format, can it

They are back to classic country as Hank FM. They made the switch at 10:17 this morning. They started with an old WDVH Pams jingle and then a little Paul Harvey and then an apology for the mistake they made in switching from classic country. I noticed 980 is off the air so it would be nice if they would simulcast again as I can't get 101.7 very well in my part of Gainesville (Biven's Arm).

Well at least some sanity reigns. Does it sound like Dial Globals classic country format that they had before the flips or something else? Surely not "live and local"!

Well I missed the whole thing! Too bad the dance music didn't stay.....
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA............Oh wait, were you serious............... ::)
I was serious only to the point of this area really needing another (what is it now, about 12 of 'em?) country station. ::)

While in general the area has its fair share of various country formatted radio stations, keep in mind that 101.7 serves rural Gilchrist, Levy and Dixie counties where classic country, classic hits, oldies, classic rock, sports, news-talk, southern gospel or mainstream country are the most logical choices. Since the signal does not reach Gainesville with a listenable and marketable signal, a dance format would be a complete disaster on the 101.7 frequency. Dance programming would be much better suited for a Gainesville signal. Classic country was chosen for this particular station because of its historical success with the format since 1988 when 101.7 first signed on the air as WCWB.

True, for the area it serves, this is a logical choice for 101.7. I still don't understand why this whole "Pulse FM" thing anyway. First they blow up the 3000 watt classic country station to make it Pulse, then they blow up a 100,000 watt CHR to also make it Pulse FM. Now I guess they found the error in all this after an almost year-long simulcast (at least one of the errors) and return 101.7 to classic country. I think they need to go in a different direction with 106.9 though. This whole thing seems like one wrong decision after another, to just end up back at the start. I'm just glad they didn't screw with WHHZ.
