1060 WIXC - Changes

Someone I recently met is an insider with Genesis and all I can say is that Greg better move over and make some room because the whole famn damily is rumored to be moving to Mims shortly. Salary cuts, closing sales office in Suntree, alienating the sales staff, and still not settled on programming. More changes coming at WIXC.

Sale could come soon. I notice that at the radiogenesis website they don't even list WIXC under the "Advertise" tab. Are they still trying to sell air on this station? I happen to know that there is a party interested in making a high six figure offer for the station, but they are waiting for the owner to become a little more motivated.

The Brevard county traffic report is "brought to you as a service of" a chamber of commerce on the other side of the state. Why don't they just give that away to one of their local advertisers? Because they were somehow able to sell it elsewhere. It makes the station sound foreign, and also desperate. There are a long line of people who have gotten the shaft trying to build WIXC into something. Sales staff are treated worst than CC or Cumulus sales staff, and that's saying a lot. More pay cuts? That trend will not stop. Where else can Maduri cut costs? The electricity is what it is.

I'll go one better than previous predictions. I'll say that $600,000 will buy this station.

Ask any current Cumulus employees here locally and I don't think ou will find too many unhappy employees.

Bob Alpert and Chuck Whittker who do the traffic bring their own sponsors and is out of the control of WIXC.

So what's the deal with the morning shift on WIXC? I know for a while Liz and Ed were co-hosting, then Ed left and it was just Liz doing a solo morning show. But now Liz is just anchoring the news/weather/traffic breaks and the morning show itself is just the Wall Street Journal Report.

To be honest, Liz wasn't my cup o' tea, but she was good for an occasional morning alternative from time to time, and she's certainly more interesting than the WSJ show. Was it ratings? Liz really didn't get much of a chance to build an audience. Can't be budget, because Liz is still there and is presumably still getting paid...

Can anyone here tell me what happens if a lawsuit is filed against a license when there is a proposed transfer of the license (i.e. in a sale)? Thanks.

When that happens, it's usually a very public form of extortion; most of the suits filed when a radio station sells, are settled to expedite the transfer process. The people who do this know there are no real grounds, the licensee knows there are no real grounds, but it happens anyway.

Yes, I thought it threw a monkey wrench into the license transfer process. Probably a good incentive not to litter the landscape with the carcasses of those you have wronged, eh? Thanks for the info.

Barkley,

If it's a financial issue, such as is the case with WELE-AM in Daytona, it's possible to get a lien against the station. In that particular case, WELE cannot be sold, given away, or anything else until the lien is satisfied. That station is in a particularly bad situation, as at least one judgement in the form of a lien has been filed and accepted and there are bound to be more. A lien CAN stop the process.

Otherwise, these things are usually settled just to move the transfer process along, as Kevin stated earlier.

The sales staff at Cumulus is not very happy at all.

You don't know what your talking about.....Perhaps six months ago, but all the DEAD weight is gone

Sorry, but I happen to be well aquainted with a very active member of the Cumulus sales staff. This person is most definitely not dead weight, and they are definitely not happy but there are few places to jump to in radio advertising in Brevard. Just because someone stays where they are certainly does not mean they are happy. You're welcome to your own opinion on anything, for course, and I will not say that "you don't know what you're talking about", but I know what I know.

Well you took a "singular" person and made them "Plural" She has been unhappy for years. 4 years ago when I was another radio group, she called evey few months with the latest "Outrage" I am suprised anyone listens to her anymore.

I do not know who is in charge of spot inventory at the station but, they need to kill all the promos, liners, etc. for the overnight shows. I still hear promos and liners running for shows that air after they shut their transmitter off right after midnight. Does the GM even listen to the station? They have been shutting down after midnight for a while now and yet these promos and liners are still running! Someone should get their head out of their @$$ and do their job!

Spanky, blaming the GM at WIXC is absurd, Bruce Almighty makes all the decisions, and once in a while has
the courtesy to let the GM, staff etc know what he is doing. He signs off early to save money, he runs the
station at reduced power to save money...best thing he could do for the radio industry is --sell the station!
Unless of course, he plans to simulcast his Lacrosse games into Brevard.
