107.7 Lubbock is Live

It's simulcasting for the time being. Playing Magic 93.7.

Anyone want to take a stab at what format they'll land on?

The signal scanned in my car without problem, which by the way, leads me to another question. 107.3 scans on my radio now, where before it was KSSL it NEVER scanned. Do you think they turned up the power without telling anyone? Seems odd that all of the sudden it scans without issue.

I'm not hearing Magic 93.7.

I'm hearing what sounds like an iPod on shuffle. No specific format. I heard Gary Jules "Mad World" and now I hear Sammy Hagar/Van Halen "Where Eagles Fly."

Scans in great on both my car stereo and my portable stereo.

Caught station ID at the top. Call letters are "KLBB" Idalou-Lubbock.

Currently no RDS on the station.

Wonder what format they will throw on it?

Will be monitoring 107.7 closely...

Wonder if it might be a lite rock station (like Lite FM in Dallas or Sunny 106.5 in Tyler?).

Lubbock technically does not have a "lite rock" format.

they're using the calls KLBB which is being used for the local subchannel for MeTv here, odd. format? Lite-Rock? didn't they try that with Starz? the way i see it they're going after women with Yesfm, maybe they go after men in the same demographic. much better signal strength than yes or TT.

Stars was simulcast as late as last Sunday, which is when I had last checked. I heard the shuffle and "Mad World" both last night and this morning. In fact, as far as I can tell, I've only heard 80s music on 107.7.

Anyone wanna bet on Jack-FM? I'm from Dallas and listen to it when I go back home. It runs, I think, 50% 80s music and 50% whatever.

Even though they called Stars a lite rock station, I always thought it sounded much different than a typical lite rock station if I were to compare it to KVIL or KOOI.

KLBB is also an AM station serving the twin cities. And it's also the airport code for Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport.

I think KTTU call letters are used in Tucson on one of their TV stations if I'm not mistaking.

I don't think they would try Jack FM again...but maybe a Jack-type format?(lots of the Jack stations are dropping in the small markets. Midland lost Jack, we lost Jack when it was on 105.3, Bryan-College Station lost Jack. Tyler lost Jack. Only Jack left in West TX is Amarillo.). I suppose if they were to attempt a Jack format, it'd probably be a Bob FM or something. Midland and Wichita Falls has a Bob FM I believe...

I'll be disappointed if they resurrect the Jack format. Throwing up a nice new signal and then just slapping a jockless Jack or Bob format on there just seems boring to me.

look for them to go with Whatever format they can do on the CHEAP and get programming from the bird. they might go live with one daypart, they were advertising for a Morning jock a few weeks ago. so, yes i think a jack type format is also possible. its ramar.

Why all of the 80's music? I hear plenty of 80s on Yes FM. Seems like they'd be sharing quite a bit of listeners.

I don't think it is all 80's music. The Gary Jules version of Mad World was recored in 2003. (The original however was from the 80s). I think I might have heard another song that was recorded in 2005.

I don't know if this is 107.7 "stunting" or 107.7 running signal tests.

I lived in Dallas when rimshot 93.7 (now La Raza 93.7) signed on for the first time. They looped jazz music on there along with a station ID that said they were running equipment tests. The same loop continued for MONTHS before they put an official format on there.

Yes, it was ridiculous. KNOR started "testing," for the most part using a single Boney James CD, in July 2003 and it continued until mid-March of 2004!

This morning the RDS now says Country. This morning I heard Elvis Costello and then Sugar. Sounds more like AAA.
At 8 am, I was hearing dead air. It better not be country. We have plenty of country stations out here. Id rather it be Jack Fm or Bob fm than country.

With the scrolling rds, I wonder if they will scroll song titles/artists? Would love to see a station out here finally start to do that

if i were betting on a format, AAA or maybe a jack.. i hoping for Country :D

but they will take from both.. never the less, its a bad day for both of them today.

That's like saying 105.3 takes from KLLL or the Bear. They seem to be doing just fine even with a third station. It would take miracle to see 107.7 draw any major amount away from 101 or Kool.
