5 PD's in 5 years???

With the decent numbers that 94.1 had, if you fire the current PD and bring in a new one...you have to think some type of change is coming. After all, why bring on John Stewart to program your station. Nothing better than taking it to your old boss...with your old morning show...on a decent signal that can get into both Akron...and Canton. I bet there will be some big changes...oh, about the time DeLuca's non-compete is up.

However, 3 CHR's in Akron, and Canton, plus 96.5 in Cleveland...not all, can, or will survive. Mix in the country stations, which also skew younger, and newer, and anyone over 40 doesn't have much options on the local dial.

If you like music created before Y2K, your only local choices on the dial...WONE 97.5 and My 101.7...both stations should pick up audience with this change.

Listened to Mix a little bit, and heard John host afternoons today as a fill-in. He's supposed to be on-air for good starting next week.

Because a screen name such as Bon Jailer is not an insult to John Baylor. and I'm the ******.

Canton radio...small market.....in so many ways.

You're not a ****** John, you're just giving your thoughts and input on different topics. I respect a lot of what you post.

I'm really excited to see what will happen at HBC-A/F.

Interesting side note here:

92-5DJQ, DJ92, 92Country and 92-5NewCountry were just registered with Ohio Secretary of State on Friday last week.
So was Canton's Classic Hits and Canton's New Country.

All were registered by Mr. Don Peterson III PO Box 9211 Canton, 44711

Just a note..

The final sales price that the orignal NextMedia paid for WHBC A/F was 42.5 million..NextMedia really screwed themselves in Saginaw MI, when they paid $50 million for a five station group, put Dietz in charge, and in one quarter lost 30% of their revenue...then took the last of their cash and bought an FM in San Jose, CA...

Someday, the original NextMedia will be a topic of discussion in various business courses as to how NOT to start or operate a modern broadcasting company..until then, it makes for a good story over a pitcher of Budweiser..but when some business professor needs to know what happened...I'm a text message away..

Yet, one of the PDs from Saginaw went to HBC-FM as PD/PMD host. Go figure.

Speaking of PD, I wonder who DJQ will bring in to replace John. I wouldn't be surprised if there are resumes pilling up at Smyth Avenue.

...and here no one has mentioned the irony of NextMedia hiring the people who got their asses handed to them by Mix back in the late 90s-early-to-mid 2000s (before the continual purges began).

Oh: but I'm sure those ZKL/DJQ/whatever the heck their calls are jocks are MUCH better now.

Sad.

Sad indeed. I do remember seeing Steve Rockford brought in for afternoons replacing Brady Russell, only for Steve after only two years and replaced by Hunter around the same time the format switch took place.

Kayleigh is one of the few to remain with the combo, and I do hope she stays put. If she was gone, Canton would have a field day.

Between hunter, terry, fig, Jerry and Sean, did any of them garner any ratings successes with whbc? Wonder when station will flip formats, if that's even true. I worked with fit before and he was the only pd of those 5 to leave on his own. Wonder what the others did to get fired....

Has anyone been listening to the 12pm and 5pm hours lately? There's some off the wall stuff playing that doesn't always match with the Hot AC/Adult CHR format. I've been hearing songs playing on Mix from Hazard by Richard Marx to Baby Baby by Amy Grant that are more fitting on 101.7. Sounds a little bit of stunting, but who knows. I've also been hearing jingles that have not been played since Jerry Mac was PD.
