That's because that's what the public hears. No one listens to a budget discussion.I always say the most important part of this discussion should be about money. But the bulk of these 1000 posts is about format.
I'm surprised you didn't say that!

The broker for that "Pacific Northwest Exclusive" (a daytimer for $195,000 in 70s dollars) was in this San Francisco building: Hunter–Dulin Building - WikipediaHey, in the 70s, an AM station in a town of 100,000 people or less wasn't that expensive. Not that hard to make back the money and get in the black if you knew what you were doing:
When I call up the KSRO website, here's the logo I see:

Notice the slogan: "Sonoma County's FM News Talk".
(On the right side, the frequencies are listed: "103.5 FM, 96.9 FM, 1350 AM". That plus the slogan plus big "KSRO" call letters comprise the entire logo.)
Yes, "FM News Talk". If that doesn't tell you that the AM (which has halfway decent coverage) has taken a back seat to the FM translators, I don't know what will.
In their hometown, KSRO is the top rated commercial N/T at a 1.9, not so great. KSFO shows up with 0.7.Yeah. I only mention them because Nielsen lists them as KSRO-AM.
And, I would imagine since the two FMs are translators, one in Santa Rosa and one in Petaluma, that the 0.4 is mostly happening within Sonoma County---and enough of it to get them a 0.4 in the SF book. Maybe someone south of Mt. Tam's listening on AM, but I can't imagine it's significant.

34 days and counting....
I suppose we could call it the 560 doomsday clock. ⏰
I know it's not always the most accurate source, but RadioLocator.com says KSRO has *three* FM translators -- the 3rd one being on 94.5 FM.When I call up the KSRO website, here's the logo I see:

Can't wait for the aircheck.I mean, you could...but all that happens when the clock hits 00:00 is that literally nothing changes. 560 stays off the air, likely for good. And damn near nobody in the Bay Area knows or cares.

Thanks K.M. I'm a little surprised by 93.3. San Francisco has a Class B on that frequency. I realize S.F. is about 50 miles away. But all of that city's Class B's (plus a number of superpower FM's) are fairly listenable in Santa Rosa. And yes, I know from personal experience, having visited Sonoma County many times.FCCdata.org (a/k/a the more accurate source) says four ... there is apparently a 93.3 as well:

That said, I think I can hear KRZZ with relatively little trouble all the way up near Clear Lake if I use a good radio with the antenna positioned juuust right.I looked at the maps and K300AO is highly directional over Santa Rosa itself. Looking at the map for KRZZ, it appears to get no farther north than Novato.
K300AO has been silent since May last year.
If they notified the FCC that would reset the doomsday clock for another year. The funniest thing they could do is turn the transmitter on at 11:59 pm, play a KSFO aircheck of someone (Terry McGovern?) saying "Here's "The Sounds of Silence" and then turn the transmitter off again.
Another year of silence, another year of the '560' thread! If they notified the FCC that would reset the doomsday clock for another year.
