92.3 call letters WNOW-FM

And the 1:00 legal ID is "WNOW-FM and HD1 New York". It's official. I wonder what the new calls of 105.3 in Gaffney, SC are. The fact that I knew the station that currently possessed the WNOW-FM calls off the top of my head is proof that I'm a radio geek.

This coincidentally happens right around the time WFAN gets its FM signal. They have not been ID-ing as "WXRK-HD3" since then.

That pretty much confirms the format on 92.3 will be staying for a long time.

Call letters are easy to change, but in any case, I'm not sure there was ever a question that NOW was going anywhere. I think that station does better than people think.

FWIW, WFAN was not on 92.3 HD3 the last time I checked.

Come on folks. This totally proves the WXRK calls are going to 94.7 and Cumulus is flipping it to Rock. ;D :D ;D /s

And that's fine, but in the era of PPM, calls mean NOTHING. Even in diary, station positioners got more credit than call letters mentioned in a time compressed id ever did.

Don't know, but the 105.3 in Gaffney was recently sold by Gaffney Broadcasting to Radio One. Radio One blew out the brokered Spanish (Regional Mexican?) format and flipped it to Old School R&B. Forgot what the exact name of the station is. Gaffney had been LMAing the station to Davidson Media Group.

Wow, as Yogi would say…it’s déjà vu all over again.

Oldsters will remember when the moniker “Now Radio” applied to top 40 stations such as WRKO/Boston and CFOX/Montreal way back in the 1960s.

WOW!!!! Now THAT should make those ratings soar!!!! ROFLMAO!!!!! ;D

I have to admit, the first thing that popped to mind is that they might have other plans for the WXRK call letters. I guess we'll see...

Great minds think alike, mjb! Definitely looking forward to WXRK resurfacing sometime after the Apocaly- I mean- new year!

Yep - but not before CBS moved the WNEW calls to D.C....

Um, would it be "Old School 105.3"? ::)

According to an article in AllAccess, 92.3 had been WXRK since 1985, except for a time from 2066-2007 when it was WFNY. That call was used for the hot talk format they tried unsuccessfully.
