92.3 call letters WNOW-FM

Nick said:
It's obvious CBS thinks 92.3 is the least valuable when 92.3 simulcasted 1010 WINS the day after the hurricane. That was days before they got 101.9. If they had 101.9 that day, it would switch to a WINS simulcast instead of 92.3.

That was because 1010 was off the air--
It wasn't a simulcast. Once 1010 was back to full power, NOW resumed regular programming.

That was still a "simulcast".

That "least valuable property" talk is nonsense. 'CBS was simulcast on Fresh. That's what happens when you need to get information out.

So Radio One sold the WNOW calls from our city's station (I live in Gaffney SC) to CBS?
Wonder how it was so abruptly changed to WOSF when 105.3 has been Old School 105.3 for over 2 months now.

Also funny how the day the were dropped, 92.3 NY grabbed them.
I wonder how much Radio One made on those valuable calls.

Theres another NOW station much closer to Charlotte that could've got them...WMKS 105.7 Greensboro.

Guess we can NOW put to rest CBS changing the format of 92.3 Now sooner than later... [as much as people say flip to something else].. Looks like CBS is committed to CHR on 92.3 for NOW.

Since the FCC website still has WXRK in New York, where are the calls going?

WPB? Erie, Lake or town?

The WXRK calls are officially available right now. Grab 'em if you want 'em.

BTW, CBS doesn't own the West Palm Beach cluster anymore.

My guess they will go the way of WYSP which CBS didn't bother to keep.....WYSP is now a religious station in Dushore, PA

I didn't say they did. I was suggesting places the call letters would go.

For some reason, it seems call letters that were in New York are soon scooped up.

Maybe, it is a superstitious thing.

You must really be proud of having the WNOW call letters in your city

The fact that they were dropped so suddenly tells me that CBS made a deal with Radio One for that callsign,
but I don't believe Radio One would let those 'high demand' calls go for free...
Radio One acquired the WNOW-FM callsign when it purchased 105.3 in Charlotte a few months ago.

1. CBS could've made a deal for WNOW-FM with Davidson Media a long time ago (and Davidson still owns WNOW-AM near Charlotte)

2. Radio One wanted to leave the Charlotte market but is taking chances with 105.3 to compete with leader WBAV.
It would bring in some extra cash to sell, rather than give away the WNOW-FM calls,
but as for how much they made I don't know, does anyone?

The FCC webpage is finally showing 92.3 as having the WNOW calls. It shows no records for WXRK.

The page must have been updated, yesterday.
