The "building your station" promotion is an old one. It's meant to give the impression that the radio station cares about it's listeners input, which is far from the truth. Radio stations spend thousands of dollars a year on music tests, market perceptuals, marketing, focuc groups, etc, etc. The "New 92-3" has already been formatted. "Your" input will be recorded and may show up in promos touting the new direction, as long as those testimonials are what 92-3 wants to air.
Expect new imaging and a tight playlist to start. Tight playlists increase TSL, like it or not. A new music test is only good for about 90 days, then it burns. That's when one has to massage Selector, rotate tunes in and out accordingly, keep the imaging fresh, imaginative and current (pop culture). I strongly suggest XTM, I mean WXRK, outsource the imaging to a Jake Kaplan (WHFS) or someone of that caliber. Jake rocks!
I was part of the same type promotion at a classic rock. Great cume builder. Smaoke n mirrors.
