92.3 NOW - Chunky?

Well if their ratings are falling like THAT, then they need to do something to get back those ratings that they lost. They don't necessarily have to bring back K-Rock or flip 101.9 to country in order to do that, but if NOW's ratings continue to slip-- especially like that-- then a format change is in need.

But I don't think bringing back K-Rock FOR A THIRD TIME will solve CBS Radio's problem

Also I think we need to keep in mind one month is just that one month. If its something that continues or doesn't improve over the next couple months then it might be reason for concern (though going in a direction that got even worse numbers isn't the answer), but in the end we need to remember that its just one month, and we should never read too much into one month.

I agree with you, Tim. One month is just one month as far as ratings is concerned. But, seriously, why are we calling 101.9 to flip formats? What do they have to do with NOW FM (besides being sister stations, so to speak)?

Not sure why 101.9 even made it into the discussion, though they are the lowest rated commercial full power FM in the city. Also they aren't even sister stations with NOW, Now is owned by CBS, RXP is owned by Emmis.

After a strong two years, including a summer that absolutely sizzled for the format, dance oriented urban pop is losing its freshness. No real surprise, disco really only had a 2-year period of domination. But, this time, it won't be new wave, for the suburban audience, and hip-hop, for the urban audience, to step in to fill the void like it did 30 years ago. Rather, this instance of dance oriented urban pop is likely to keep its cheap-to-produce electro-funk ethos, but lose the expensive, english-only singers.

The next incarnation or urban pop will be house, it will be hard, it will nearly be acid, and the first station that realizes this will capture for the next five-ten years, today's 14-18 year olds that think that Rhiana and Black Eyed Peas are cool.

Yeah - it's not just Now 92.3 - the other CBS pop/dance CHRs are also down this month

I still think Indie/Alternative is going to start taking over pop radio in the next year or so, just cause (with the exception of NYC), I've never seen AAA and Alternative ratings so high

BRING BACK KROCK! Put the DJs to other stations so that no one loses their jobs! Keep Lisa Paige she fits on a rock station i could see her there on it. It shows that 92.3 is uselss right now. Bring back KRock format it alternative. Make it LOCAL mornings. Make 101.9 Country. everyone wins.

K-Rock woul dbe a huge failure. No great morning shows left to put there to anchor station and new Rock does not do well in NY. Young males turn to technology. As for Lisa Paige, she is a pop girly girl. Not a rock chick at all.

Can we just stop saying bring back K-Rock? We've already seen CBS Radio screw it up before (do I have to remind you the failure that was FREE FM back in 2005?)...are you really willing to risk another debacle again?

If you are, then good luck with convincing CBS to flip NOW FM back to K-Rock....and THEN find someone that's willing to wake up at 4:00 in the morning just to NOT get replaced by Opie and Anthony three months later.
