On an HD-2, just fine. Otherwise, too old, too non-ethnic, too non-rhythmic for NYC.How would "The Breeze" format do, here?

That's a joke right? I think that would be even less attractive to advertisers than dance!!Maybe Shannon's The Real Oldies Channel? It's on HD, I know, but should be good for a not full market FM signal.
No. Why a joke? WNSH signal is not that big for NYC to do this. That's a joke right? I think that would be even less attractive to advertisers than dance!!
What has not been mentioned is that, even with the small transmitter move that is pending, this station is at a disadvantage for any kind of ethnically oriented format, whether Black or Hispanic. While the new site is "pretty close" to Manhattan, there is a major difference between being "over New York" from the ESB and "near New York" from a place on the other side of the river where all the buildings on the West Side are a nice Faraday shield. That's a joke right? There would be few listeners (none in the demographics desired) and even fewer advertisers interested in reaching them. Remember...the advertiser is the customer and the listener is the product.No. Why a joke? WNSH signal is not that big for NYC to do this.
I was also thinking this David. That's why I'm thinking they won't do classic hip-hop as otherwise rumored. What has not been mentioned is that, even with the small transmitter move that is pending, this station is at a disadvantage for any kind of ethnically oriented format, whether Black or Hispanic. Irrespective of signal, that is a format that agency buyers shun and ignore. If most of the audience is over 55, they will bill less than even country got.No. Why a joke? WNSH signal is not that big for NYC to do this.
There is also a cultural issue: selling an ethnic format may not be a good fit for the existing sales crew at the cluster. Remember what happened in Houston when an Urban and Urban AC cluster tried to do an Hispanic format?I was also thinking this David. Absolutely great point! I was thinking that as well. Audacy's stations in NYC, this one included, are not geared towards ethnic formats. An ethnic-type format would be an outlier in the cluster strategy. Not impossible to change that strategy but just odd. There is also a cultural issue: selling an ethnic format may not be a good fit for the existing sales crew at the cluster. This is not an infinite problem... just one that requires some "changes in attitudes, changes in latitudes" in the cluster staff and focus.
Wow! Flipping from my second favorite format to my #1 favorite!According to RadioInsight's Twitter channel, Classic HipHop it is: "Expectations in the New York market is that 94.7 WNSH will flip to Classic Hip Hop later today."
