WHAT IS TAKING THEM SO LONG I'M TIRED OF THAT BORING RELIGIOUS CRAP ON SUCH A GOOD FREQUENCY!
Change the station - It is what the button is for.
Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!
No single button can make that kind of change to a station.
That is what t_k is waiting for the new owners to do ;D

If you've got the button, you can use it.

If you are looking for a change because you snapped your fingers, that is quite another story and you don't want to hear my response to that action.

Nah, it's just that some of us are very impatient to hear what the new format on 94.7 will be. ;D
"Some of us" needs a life.

I haven't figured out who that is.

That was my flawed attempt at humor.
Passengers often wish me ill health when they tell me to change the radio station that is playing and I explain that I can put a different station but I have no control over the one that is currently on.

FCC has okayed transfer of WDVY license from Cumulus to Family...and okayed transfer of WFME licence form Family to Cumulus.

See public notice of approval, here....http://mediaconfidential.blogspot.com/2013/01/fcc-okays-license-transfers-between.html

This should speed things up a bit.

The only thing that could hold them up is if there is an agreement to wait until an AM signal is found for Family. In Philly, they did not wait for an AM signal. So, I doubt that will be a delay, but you never know. We are talking about the #1 market here.

Keep trying, humor is like spam, if you throw enough of it out there, some of it will stick.

I'd look for better friends.

There is no way they would wait for that to happen. It could take many months, if not longer, to find an AM signal, complete a sale, etc. My guess is that WDVY was included in the sale of WFME to basically throw Family a bone to stay on the air while they find an AM outlet.

Kind of stands to reason (whatever that counts for :- ) that Family Radio will want a signal that covers more people in * New York City * than it does in Connecticut. New York City is the prestigious city of license here, I'd say.

If true, would that wish exclude WSNR (Jersey City), WPAT (Paterson), WNYM (Hackensack), WVNJ (Oakland), and WNSW (Newark) ?

Mt. Kisco is a great place. But the idea of the Family Radio shortwave network saying that they are feeding God's sheep via a brand new station in Mount Kisco doesn't sound like an addition that will alter any donations or world calendar.

Considering what they will get for 94.7, none of those stations is unreachable.

I could also see an LMA or Disney/Emmis-like deal for an AM. Family will have multiple options.

As has been previously mentioned in this thread, the FCC has apparently still not approved the relatively recent application to operate WDVY from a distant studio, and to change it to noncommercial status.
Although Family Radio could legally go ahead now and close on the sale of WFME to Cumulus, they may want to wait a few weeks till their programming can be continued on WDVY.

I had forgotten about that piece of the puzzle. I am sure that is part of the closing process. Family Radio does not want to set up a studio and hire folks to run the CT station for a few weeks.

That is certain!

In theory, couldn't they feed the Mount Kisco station from the existing WFME studio in West Orange (and using their staff) until the FCC finished up the paperwork?

They could feed it over the Internet, or use the audio from a WFME-TV digital subchannel.

May not be worth the effort...

FWIW, I noticed that WFME had turned off it's RDS encoder this morning.

No, they could not use the WFME studios. There are requirements about how close the studio must be to the city of license or in the signal contour. I don't remember the rules because they have changed several times, but something about 25 miles from the city of license comes to mind. Anyway, religious/non-commercial broadcasters commonly can get a waiver to the rule and remotely program the station from another state. I believe the main reason for changing the station to non-commercial status is to get the studio waiver.

Maybe they should look at WKLB in Boston....I never thought Country would be popular in Boston (we had AM Country and the 'throw something else on becuase I really hate Alt Rock' Herbert Hoffman WBOS incarnation in the 80s....but none of that had more than a small niche audience.

I think 'KLB would be a good example for any NYC Country station to follow...
