94.7 Updates

Who pi**ed in your cereal this morning? I posted a new thread but it got shifted into this one. Frankly,16 pages of this thread is ridiculous now that a new format is fast-approaching.

RadioInsight and Radio Ink have reported that the deal has officially closed.
No word yet on programming changes.

I hope someone in the area is recording the WFME over the air signal. It would be great to have that posted up on ww.formatchange.com.

No, they could not use the WFME studios. There are requirements about how close the studio must be to the city of license or in the signal contour. I don't remember the rules because they have changed several times, but something about 25 miles from the city of license comes to mind. Anyway, religious/non-commercial broadcasters commonly can get a waiver to the rule and remotely program the station from another state. I believe the main reason for changing the station to non-commercial status is to get the studio waiver.

Here is the pertinent info from another topic on the NYRMB:

73.1125 Station main studio location.
(a) Except for those stations described in paragraph (b) of this section, each AM, FM, and TV broadcast station shall maintain a main studio at one of the following locations:
(1) Within the station’s community of license;
(2) At any location within the principal community contour of any AM, FM, or TV broadcast station licensed to the station’s community of license; or
(3) Within twenty-five miles from the reference coordinates of the center of its community of license as described in § 73.208(a)(1).

So, yeah -- 106.3 could not be run out of West Orange since no Mt. Kisco licensed facility has West Orange within its primary contour. You could have it the other way, though, since Mt. Kisco is within the primary contour of a station licensed to Newark (WNET or WHTZ come to mind).

Does anyone listen to Kicks 105.5/106.3? I'm wondering if they are still referring to 106.3 as part of the imaging.

They are. I've also ran a number of queries around web registrations for 947, kicks, ny, nash, etc turns up nothing...yet anyway.

I still think there's a chance at 94.7 will be alternative rock.

But if not that, it will go country.

I'd give the odds as 50% country, 50% alt-rock, and zero chance of any other format.

It's being rolled on, and it will be there whenever it happens.

Scott, you have such a national presence that I keep forgetting you are in the northeast. :)

You flatter me! I am indeed in the northeast, but Rochester is about 250 miles too far from West Orange to get a usable 94.7 signal. And while Lance and I have been working together on some projects (especially now that "Mrs. NERW" is back in the hospital and my schedule's in disarray), he's the one who runs FormatChange.com, not me. And fortunately, he is in New Jersey and rolling nonstop until something happens.

16 pages really, how about in Boston where we got up to 90 pages thanks to the 96.9 stunt/flip to hot 969 Boston!!

In Atlanta we got 48 pages AFTER the flip for 106.7 from oldies to All News 106.7. 16 pages is nothing. Especially since all of the questions about when what has happened since the FCC approval are on the last 3 or 4 pages.

If we added all of the WFME related pages there would be well over 500.

I think WFME wins any "Battle of the Radio Pages".

Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!
