I think a better phrase for the "average listener" who posts on this board would be potential stalker...

I don't think they are going to flip. I think they're just pulling off a cheap stunt for publicity. If a real flip was coming, it should have been done within a week.

Well they just missed a GREAT filpportunity... Leading up to noon they played Some People Change followed by Dallas Days and Fort Worth nights song. Then...legal ID and more of the same twelve songs. <losing interest> <back to XM> :mad:
 
Did you ever think its not a plan...they just dont have it together. It was Farid who spilled the beans. Maybe it was too premature
 
It could also be that they're trying to be doubly sure that the "go to KSCS" message is heard by the bulk of their listenership before the flip takes place. I'm sure KSCS would love to claim the as much of KTYS' 1.0 share that they possibly can.

They can't flip before Saturday.
Look for something either Sunday, or early next week.

One week is more than enough, to be sure everyone hears about it. People are already losing interest in whatever KTYS might be doing.

Hello All,
KTYS 96.7 Twister should have been flip months and months ago...only 1.0 share in DFW radio market that SUCKS!!! ??? Now, They have miss another important date Memorial Day. If I was new PD, I would have changed format Tuesday Morning after Memorial Day to start the new Summer Rating Book for this year. And also, you have more listeners since it is Summer time flip around the dial to find the station!!! This is my thinking on this. I hope they flip to Smooth Jazz format. CBS missed up killing 107.5 The Oasis off over 1 ??? year ago. DFW need Smooth Jazz sound back on the FM dial. I have been missing The Oasis for a long time.

If they flipped to smooth jazz, then I would be very surprised, mainly because smooth jazz is slowly fading out of other markets. Houston recently lost 95.7 and not even a couple weeks ago, Baltimore also got rid of WSMJ 104.3. So I find it very doubtful that smooth jazz is coming back to the Metroplex, but I could be wrong.

Now, if KTYS does flip, I am still seeing oldies possibly. But, like others are saying, this could just be a stunt to get people talking. Perhaps they are going to launch with a new name but the same format. Sort of when KRBV went from Hot 100 to Wild 100.3. But I highly doubt they are going to keep the same format because they wouldn't be telling all their listeners to go to the Big 96.3 KSCS if they were keeping their format. One possibility could be that they are "tweaking" their format. Maybe they are staying country, but are going to all classics or something.

We will see very soon (HOPEFULLY...)

Then they should have waited until a few days ago to tease the supposed format change.

Oh, and contracts can be broken.
 
With a station that's getting a 1.0, odds are they have a lot of P-2's and P-3's, and not a lot of P-1's. So if youve got casual listeners, and you're really trying to drive your p-1's to your sister station, KSCS (and not KPLX) you probably need to push the message HARD to account for spotty listening habits of your listeners..

And while contracts CAN be broken, it can also cost one heck of a lot if you leave yourself open to non-fullfilment of your end of a deal. So it becomes more cost effective to piss off listeners, and message board geeks, than to pull the trigger too early...

That's all i'm saying...I've heard, from a realtively reliable source, that it should happen within teh next couple of days...I might be getting lied to, but I guess we'll see in the next couple of days...
