96.7 K-Love Signing On Very Soon

Driving in Bergen County I am getting mostly static and some pirate coming in weak.....I thought I caught WTSX but I don't know if they are even on at this point (reports were they shut down as well as they are making the move to PA).

@Ed B: Interesting way to close - would you happen to have an MP3 copy of it? ::)

@Jamie: I was fiddling with my radio trying to get a signal on 96.7. Know what I got? Bleedover from 96.3, and nothing more. (But at least I can hear 1050 without bleedover from 880... ::) )

Here in Northern Westchester, Legends 96.7 WPTR is actually coming in rather nicely. Listening on a Bose with the indoor dipole antenna. It's a nice change of pace. A little further down the Taconic today there was a country station playing. In White Plains there was a pirate station.

From Bridgeport to Trumbull, to West Haven, CT, all I heard was an empty frequency. Almost makes me want to put something on the air for a while! ;) Nahhh...

Now would be a good time for the FCC to find all the pirates on 96.7. It'll be hard to use a direction-finder when WKLV is on the air.

... and that's because the only direction that will be led at that time will be His direction. ::) (Hey, I go to church, I can make these cracks... ;) )

Isn't it very odd that WCTZ went off the air before WKLV was ready to broadcast? The sale must have closed shortly after Cox received a license to cover for the New Rochelle location.
Evidently Cox shut down WCTZ once the sale closed, even though EMF was not yet ready to put K Love on the air.
Perhaps EMF cannot broadcast from the New Rochelle facility until the F.C.C. approves their application to operate a non-commercial station on this frequency.
As a result 96.7 will be dark for a number of days. Can anyone recall an FM frequency in the area being off the air for a considerable period of time, due to a sale? Usually the on the air transfer from one buyer to another is virtually seamless.

I would think that that is because in MOST cases, the new owner just "takes over" the existing facilities... if not the studios, then the transmitter. Since this involves a completely new site, it's gotta have a few odd twists.

Nick, this could also be the reason for the dead air. It sounds like on my radio near the stamford transmitter site that there are some distant stations as well as pirates. I have only lived about 1 mile away from the transmitter my whole life and its weird to have 96.7 Overloading any of my radios and to Get WRKI - 95.1a little bit stronger here as well...

My guess is EMF is waiting for the non com status so the MSW can be applied.. They need the MSW to run the station out of a rack in NYC. They could sign on now using Cox's studio and STL the KLove programming but I suspect it's easier for them to just wait for the Non com status and the MSW to go thru so they can run it from Rocklin.'

Is the Cox studio connected to the New Rochelle transmitter?

Camping's predictions may have a track record of not being any good - but as long as his money is good, his radio empire isn't going anywhere. (And neither are we in a few hours. ::) )

True, when there isn't another station (WTSX) that needs to get out of the way first and has been intentionally dragging its feet in the process.

Isn't WTSX 96.7 FM no longer on the air from Port Jervis?
If there were hurdles delaying K Love from getting on the air in New Rochelle, I'm surprised that there was not an agreement with Cox to keep WCTZ on 96.7 till WKLV was ready to go. Cox could have used the additional days on 96.7 to offer samples of their other nearby stations, resembling WLTW HD2's stunt of running various IHeartRadio channels. Announcements could have also been aired that K-Love would be coming soon.
Evidently EMF already paid Cox for the frequency, but cannot use it for a while.

The other day when I was listening to "The Fox" towards the top of the hour, it doesn't say "WTSX & WDLC, Port Jervis", it only says "WDLC, Port Jervis" instead.

Well, naturally, Harold was wrong. AGAIN. As expected! 11:05pm, EDT, (Meaning it's 8:05pm Pacific!) and we're all still here. What a sad event.

It will be nice to have K-Love on the air, soon.

Meanwhile, I really WONDER what WFME in NJ (as well as the rest of Mr False Prophet's network) will be saying? Will his dreadful "open forum" (it's ONLY "open" to HIM!) program even be on the air? Will *HE* even be on the air?! One can only wonder and listen.

His website appears down (familyradio.com) ... I thought the most interesting thing was in an interview on nightline the other night one of Family Radio's employees said she didn't really believe that the world was going to end yet because we don't know when the end is going to occour. Ofcourse they also talked to Harold himself and he said "I am very confident this is true that the 21st is the end"

According to a California newspaper, he's supposed to be giving an interview sometime tomorrow, at his Alameda home. I guess that means he won't be at the studio of his network. (WHAT will they air in place of his DREADFUL talk show, I wonder?!) ::)

I should have logged in to K-Love, to see what, if anything, they were saying about this foolishness, but I didn't. :( (BTW, still static on 96.7)

If I had my station, I would have made special programming to air all Saturday evening and Sunday, just to encourage the people who were misled, and discouraged by this whole mess. My heart goes out to them. :'( I'd be running PSA's for any and all local churches that were offering to help these now homeless and destitute people.
