96.7 K-Love Signing On Very Soon

I may not like the programming, but at least WAWZ is locally owned & operated. 96.7 is just a repeater station...in Market #1.

What a waste of a license. Would be better serving the market if the people from Pulse got it instead of EMF...

I sent K-Love an e-mail yesterday so far I didn't get any confirmation of a sign on date for this Friday...

For now 96.7 is a great DX frequency if you don't have a pirate nearby. Check 96.7 a few times a day for e skip.

The FCC should use this time to find all the pirates and shut them down before K Love signs on. They could easily go to the top of a skyscraper and hear all the pirates in the area.

I live in South Queens very near Brooklyn...The FCC needs to go to Brooklyn to shutdown many pirates on the air there...it seems they are on almost every available frequency at night, some even in the morning.

The biggest problem with the NYC/NJ Pirates is they would shut down 10 of them and 20 more would pop up an hour later.

The FCC will get a lot of complaints from K-Love listeners who can't hear it due to pirates. I was up in Verona, NJ today and there was a strong pirate on 96.7, about as strong as X96.3 in that area. When K-Love signs on 96.7 will be a mess there. Without the pirate, K-Love would have a strong signal there.

Last week I was in Fair Haven, NJ, about a mile from the beach in northern Monmouth county. I could hear a pirate on 96.7 over there interfering with W244AS. Assuming the 96.7 pirate was from Brooklyn, it traveled over 15 miles to get to Fair Haven. So the pirate station must be blanketing Brooklyn (assuming that station has 96.7 to itself in Brooklyn).

Now is a great time for the FCC to clear out the pirates just on 96.7. When K-Love is on, their direction finders will jump all over the place when trying to home in on a pirate. But now, 96.7 is clear and their direction finders will point right to the pirates.

Yeah I live right near Verona. That pirate on 96.7 signed on last summer. They are extremely powerful. I have heard them clearly all the way up to Route 46 in the Wayne/Fairfield area, and I'm sure they go farther than that.

As of exactly one week after WCTZ's sign-off, when you enter the station's Facility ID (10659) in the FM database, it is still listed as WCTZ.

You'd think that EMF would be attempting to update the callsign during this off-period - or do they have to actually broadcast on 96.7 FM first?

So let's see, tomorrow should be the DAY! THe big KLOVE sign on! Part of me is very excited but most of me is very skeptical that it will actually sign on.

I sent k-love an e-mail in regards to if they needed help on their promotions team. I never heard back. I will be going to China for 2 weeks as a graduation gift in the end of July which is holding me up to any radio job hunting at the moment.

I cannot imagine how it is possible for K-Love to plan on initiating their New York broadcast tomorrow. As of this writing, the F.C.C. has still not approved the station license application from EMF, the parent company of K Love.
There is absolutely nothing indicating a date for the inaugural New York broadcast, on the K Love website.
K Love signing on tomorrow in New Rochelle appears to be nothing more than a rumor. It may have started on K Love's New York Facebook page, where one person claimed to have heard the station mention tomorrow as the first day. No one else on that page has confirmed hearing or reading anything of the sort.
As I had previously mentioned, an email I received from K Love indicated that they are hoping to start at the very end of the month or in June, if all goes smoothly.
