96.7 K-Love Signing On Very Soon

Barry said:
I cannot imagine how it is possible for K-Love to plan on initiating their New York broadcast tomorrow. As of this writing, the F.C.C. has still not approved the station license application from EMF, the parent company of K Love.
There is absolutely nothing indicating a date for the inaugural New York broadcast, on the K Love website.
K Love signing on tomorrow in New Rochelle appears to be nothing more than a rumor. It may have started on K Love's New York Facebook page, where one person claimed to have heard the station mention tomorrow as the first day. No one else on that page has confirmed hearing or reading anything of the sort.
As I had previously mentioned, an email I received from K Love indicated that they are hoping to start at the very end of the month or in June, if all goes smoothly.

My understanding is that NYC KLove will sign on sometime early summer.. I don't see it signing on tomorrow...

Sorry for all the "signing on tomorrow" hype. My "connection" to KLOVE has now said it will be signing on June 4. There are some YouTube spots with Amy Grant and Mike Novak (or someone w/KLOVE) promoting KLOVE's NYC debut as "coming soon".

So much for the rumor mill! Who do you trust???

Mike, you should stop spreading clearly false rumors about various sign on dates for K Love in New Rochelle.

I am surprised how clear the 96.7 frequency has been, with WCTZ off the air. Even with some tropo over the past few days, I have heard nothing on 96.7. Has anyone been able to receive anything there, other than pirates, or stations on adjacent frequencies?

Barry,

My deepest apologies. I was only going by what I heard. I will no longer "predict" when KLOVE will finally sign on. I will jubilantly rejoice here when it finally does.

latest e-mail from K-Love about sign on date....

Hi Dave,

Still nothing solid to report. Sorry!

Larry Wayne one of the Klove DJ's just said that "WKLV 96.7 NYC should be up on MONDAY afternoon, Memorial Day! Fixing day of previous previous post." https://twitter.com/#!/larryonKLOVE/status/74619030417317888

I hope they put their Alternative format on their HD-2 Signal. I listen to RNR q-104.3 HD'2 signal 24/7 on down here with no cut outs I don;t see getting 96.7 HD-2 signal a problem.

Would be awesome if they air "air1" on the HD-2... They do this in Phx I think (their only other market with a HD Signal)

But yes, it looks like KLove signs on Monday!

And that tweet comes moments after another one that reads, "WKLV New York, 96.7 should be on the air late Tuesday afternoon, eastern time!"

Obviously, Larry could have deleted one of the tweets, but instead, he's going to make us radio geeks play the guessing game. ::)

(By the way... These tweets would be the first time since April 20th that Larry has used his Twitter account, mostly for K-Love promotions and whatnot. The previous time he tweeted? March 30. One of only three tweets he would send in the entire month of March. Clearly, he wouldn't go through the trouble of using his Twitter account if this wasn't anything serious... ::))

Who is this guy, an air personality?

He is rather specific, so maybe not, but he could be wrong.

On the blog, we posted an item about a Canadian station - heard in parts of Ohio - that was moving to FM, and noted after the traditional simulcast period, the AM would be gone.

That station's afternoon drive personality E-mailed me, insisting that the item was wrong...and that the AM would stay on the air.

I pointed to the CRTC decision establishing the FM, which clearly says the AM would go dark after the simuicast. He put me in tough with their operations manager, who confirmed I was right :D But the air personality was initially convinced that the AM would stay on the air.

Oddly enough, it will, for a few months longer, as they're working out issues with nearby U.S. stations on the FM side. But generally, in Canada, it's three months and out for stations moving from AM to FM.

K-LOVE is on the air NOW!!! WKLV "K-Love" Port Chester, NY (formerly WCTZ) began broadcasting this afternoon.

Good reception in White Plains, NY (central Westchester County) as it was from it's previous location, as would be expected since they're transmitting from New Rochelle. No RDS data stream scrolling.
