There's no way they do Rhythmic Urban, and try to outstreet Jam'n. It's not what Greater Media does. They are big on cluster selling. How does that station fit in with Magic, Radio, KLB & ROR? It doesn't. Which is why it won't happen.
A full fledged Urban AC won't work either, due to many of the reasons mentioned above. UAC needs a mainstream Urban in the market to warm up their songs and make them familiar to the audience. Most of what is spinning at the format right now isn't on any other station in town. Plus, there's just not a big enough minority population for it. It would really search for an audience, more than the talk format does now.
I think some sort of variety hits is afoot, possibly a Star like format with an 80's & 90's rhythmic component instead of lots of disco the way Entercom did it. It would allow WROR to continue to lean in a pop/rock direction and stay more or less engaged with WZLX, while 96.9 could fill the pop/retro hole abandoned by Mike and 103.3. The Harbor has more of a rock lean to it, and really wouldn't compete for the same audience with 96.9.
