Don't know but they had a promo for "80s at 8". Don't know how long they've done that but I believe WODS used to do 70s at 7 and 80s at 8, or at least the back to the 80s Fri night show.

WROR was doing "80s at 8" before WODS flipped formats

WROR was recently, still as of last month, doing "Motown Mondays", throwing in a couple of big '60s/'70s Motown hits per hour on Mondays only. They started this when WODS changed format last summer. I haven't checked on a Monday for a month or so, is WROR still doing this on Mondays?

Looking at various Monday hours on yes.com, it seems that Motown Mondays are finished:

Re: Imagine: NECN Radio 96.9...

Raccoonradio speculated on a possible new format for WTKK: said:
The News You Need is On Right Now: NECN Radio 96.9...a 24/7 simulcast of the cable channel. Low cost to Greater (Media)...perhaps with one or two talk shows unique to the radio part. Naaah, probably not, but you wonder...

One station in Toronto, CHUM-1050, for a time simulcast the audio portion of a local Toronto-area cable news channel.

That simulcast has long ended; CHUM now carries TSN Radio with some local Toronto-centric sports talk shows.

NECN news simulcast on 96.9 (for now) just BEFORE morning drive. WWZN 1510 now WUFC,
and WCAP had/still do simulcast Ch 5 news. Sat. radio has audio portions of MSNBC,
Fox News, CNN etc.

Drawback of TV audio on radio: "so as you can see you're getting rain in the area in green
here, and snow in the area in white."

How bout a station that just plays radio bits like "War of the Roses," fake prank calls and "the $5,000 fugitive" all day long?

The Andlemans are on 96.9 right now making fun of the Format change and joking that none of the wtkk employees are invited to the crappy Greater Media Holiday party. ;D

Now the waiting game - wonder when we'll know what the new format is.

Right now news-talk stations are probably getting a lot of people tuning in, as the mass shooting in CT horrifies us. Surely "96.9 The Beat", or whatever they wind up doing, would have been playing non-stop music if they had already started....not news-talk

(though perhaps some music stations in CT may be pre-empting programming to do coverage...)

is it wise to be making fun of management?? does that mean they know whats coming?? i agree racconradio but wbz 1030 is there for that purpose!!

The Andlemans buy time for their show(s) I think. Still, making fun of a "customer"

Maybe they'll wind up on WBZ radio weekends...
Meanwhile I don't know if TKK was planning to go into a stunt format now--probably not, and GM
already does do all Christmas with WMJX--but certainly TKK is making a point that they will offer
continuing coverage/talk about the Connecticut horrific tragedy... so not a case of a "Friday 3 pm
stunt launch".

Maybe a change wouldn't happen till after the New Year anyway. CBS Sports launching.
Ingraham launching her new show. Many format changes...nationwide, prob not till new yr

God, you're obnoxious. Seriously. Stations in Boston, Springfield, and Hartford have shown that they cover breaking news and tragedies very well over the past decade. Your statement about a non-existant station in a non-existant situation is just plain ignorance, and I suspect you made it just to tie in current events.

Seriously, I think you type just to read your own words. Get a grip.

96.9 apparently doing NECN simulcast instead of local talk/Graham on tragedy
Not at 8:20-8:30PM. The Daily Wrap had a segment regarding talking to kids about the Newtown shooting, then one about the fiscal water slide.

Yup was talking about earlier. Tweets say live talk on this w Hank Morse and also the Sun night host. Was Graham in for VB on Fox 25 again? Maybe gave him aft. off.

A lot of the CT stations ditched format yesterday. http://radiodiscussions.com/smf/index.php?topic=224931.0

This includes stations owned by CC - at first they were running NBC 30 across all their stations (92.5, 95.7, 97.9, 101.3, 105.9, 960, 1300, and 1410) - two separate radio markets Hartford and New Haven. Later 95.7 KISS-FM had a call-in show as did KC 101.3 (probably a simulcast of WELI 960 as it was hosted by Vinnie Penn WELI's morning host).

Have heard the likes of WHJJ in Prov do same in breaking news situation (NBC10). Greater sim. NECN did provide TKK with news coverage at low cost though some may have wanted to talk about the situation (callers as opposed to news interviews via NECN)...while music may be the ultimate format you could almost picture a future FM news setup (maybe local in am and pm drive, NECN otherwise--and they do run some of it already, maybe a talk show or two. Am guessing music eventual new format.
