We just need the Big O down there in Washington to draft a plan to get everyone in the country
an HD radio. We got free phones, how bout free HD radios ;D

I lost my old Accurian about a year ago and went to Wal-Mart and RadioShack recently looking to replace it. Nothing with HD capability in either store. How much longer will Big Corporate Radio continue to support it when the general public can't even buy it at a mainstream electronics outlet if it wants to?

The only major chain store that I see still currently selling HD radios is Best Buy, their own Insignia brand, but even stocking of those is spotty. The only one I saw in a couple of the stores as of a few weeks ago is the stereo desktop or carry-around FM HD portable radio that appeared to come out last summer.

The new version of their Walkman-size FM HD portable that came out about a year ago seems to be a lemon with very poor quality control. I take care of these radios, never dropped them, gotten them wet, or anything that would normally cause a problem. The first one I bought last winter lost all audio after about six months. The display still worked and was showing reception of stations, but no sound. I exchanged it under warranty for another, and after about six months that one "crashed" to a "white screen" only. No display, no sound. "Rebooting" it using the reset feature didn't work. Tried to return it for yet another, but all Best Buy's in greater Boston no longer stocked the item, so I took a store credit.

Fortunately, I still have a couple of the older model of the same Walkman-size portable from a few years ago that still work fine.

I got the version 2 and still have ver 1, no problems...so far.
btw of course you can find the "extra stations" on station websites and even Tune In
(for your smartphone or comp.) has some.

For example the webpage http://tunein.com/radio/search/01915/Beverly-MA/?qlc=1
has:
92.9 Radio You
96.9 Irish
98.5 WBCN Rock of Boston
100.3 Tomorrow's Country Hits
100.7 Radio Mojo/WBCN Free Form Rock
103.3 WODS 60s-80s/Holiday Music

and many more. The above are HD2s, HD3s etc but even w/o an HD radio, your comp.
or your smartphone can get them for you. Either download (on the latter) the free
TuneIn app or type in tunein.com and click local radio etc

Just snapped up the last Insignia tabletop on the Best Buy rack for $35. That's less than the cost of the iBiquity proprietary chip, right?

has anyone checked the end of Michael Graham show?

He's now officially gone--and Jim and Margery may be in "best of" mode. See http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/113639/michael-graham-exits-wtkk.

Very likely you heard the very last best-of Margery and Jim today. Tomorrow they have Fisher House special all day.
Chrish Collinsh(NECN) and Josh Davish(paid-time weekend host) will be on Wednesday, 7am-10am. New format probably
on Thursday. But who knows, probably, maybe...but who knows...

well if Jim was saying he'll be back next year maybe there just tweaking there lineup?? But there is nothing out there so my money is on a music format.

He'll be back on NECN at least but WTKK? Would think a new format unless they plan to go
syndie (Hannity?) PM drive and left Graham go (no contract renewal). New ratings period
starts 1/3 @bostonradio told me...maybe new format in place by then?

Well Graham was on fox25 morning news today filling in for vb, And he was talking about the story of the lady who was fired or let go cause of her good looks. He said we have something in common we have been both let go because of our good looks!! So it seems like a coincidence to me hours later this report comes out hes leaving!!

My money is on Boston's 1st FM All News station. Jim Braude has a news background but I don't believe Michael Graham does.

If so would they spend the $ for it or do AM and PM 'casts, then run NECN rest of the day?
Or could be music.

FM News didn't quite cut it in other markets.

Pulse could mean music, or news
I think the 107.7 in Hillsboro NH is the Pulse and WPKZ 1280/105.3 in Fitchburg is called
the Heart of New England's Pulse (talk/news)

Could 96.9 be changing formats at 3PM today when Michael Graham would normally be on? I can't imagine they are going to keep paying these fill-in hosts when the news/talk format isn't going to continue. 96.9's website seems to be the bare minimum right now, Michael Graham is still listed as a host, and his blog is still posting to his 96.9 page even after the "WTKK and Me" piece raccoonradio posted yesterday. The station just seems to be on its way out...

I heard from one weekend on-air station member that he's expecting to do his show this weekend. Talk could continue till next Thursday (1/3) when the winter book starts. It's anyone's guess.

Are you kidding me? There are so many things that don't make sense about this flip. Sure, Doug Meehan and Michael Graham are gone, but what about Jim and Margery? Fox 25 did a story on this weeks ago, and yet WTKK is still going with talk. Not that the rest of the world notices, but this is definitely annoying.
