98.7 is flipping on Friday 1/10 6pm

Honestly in the time I have been listening to 98.7 this weekend i feel like this might be another live365 and radio cloud station, like tj was,

Ironically I'm hearing more and more Spanish ads on the English talk stations I listen to. I assume these are in error.
If you listen to those stations via on-line services such as iHeartRadio and Audacy, they mix in occasional Spanish-language spots across the board regardless of format. I doubt an English-language talk station is playing spots in Spanish over the air.

And I live in the NYC metro area. I'm hearing La Exitosa 98.7 on an FM radio.

Any info. or guesses concerning on-air talent?
As an A/C format, I'd expect an upbeat morning show (maybe bilingual), and minimal talk the rest of the time.
If this is strictly a fill format prior to a sale, then maybe no one.

The post I replied to was talking about WLIB:
By using1190 as a simulcast of 98.7, Emmis has turned it into one station -- much as Audacy has with 92.3/1010 and 101.9/660. Thus, the expectation would be that the combo will sold together. Plus, as noted elsewhere, 1190 had no studios or physical plant besides the transmitter. Now, it can serves as the AM simulcast of the FM music station.

What's funny is that last summer, I suggested that WLIB be simulcast on 98.7 as a placeholder. Now it has happened, albeit in a roundabout way (or hasn't if 1190 is still silent).

Interestingly, the consultant for Emmis on this is Mike McVay. His company was the consultant for a number of years for WFID in Puerto Rico, and that station is mostly English AC with a few Spanish pop / AC songs tossed in. Obviously, he does not get the importance of socio-economic levels in Spanish language audiences and format appeal.
You'd think he might have spelled "Colombian" correctly in his portion of the press release, at least.

That is so usual I don't even comment on it any more. When I lived in Ecuador, I lost track of how many times I was asked if I liked living in Africa.

I was wondering if he had any involvement with non-Anglophone formats. Doesn't he still live in Cleveland or have a residence here? (Before becoming a consultant, McVay as PD relaunched WWWM "M105" as WMJI "Majic 105.7" in 1982 when it was still owned by Larry Robinson.)
OMG. Larry Robinson. J.B. Robinson Jewelers. On the 8th floor of the Schofield Building! I still remember this after what, 60 years?

Hit song: "Making News out of Nothing at All".

(Start Fair Use)

I know just how to whisper
And I know just how to cry
I know just where to find the answers
And I know just how to lie
I know just how to fake it
And I know just how to scheme
I know just when to face the truth
And then I know just when to dream

(End Fair Use)

I have never seen so many posts and threads about "nothing at all"
A Seinfeld thread?

Are they local or national? I remember hearing English-language McDonald's and Geico ads on WPRX in Connecticut when I lived there three years ago. Everything else on that station -- DJs, music, local advertising -- was in Spanish.
I'd like to know who listens to WPRX. It sounds like crap. They have no FM translator either. John Fuller Bomba Radio is the best. The Viva Radio 107.3/840, 106.3/1240, and 103.3/1450 iscsecond best. And then LaMega 101.7/910 and 97.5/1480.

1190 WLIB is still off the air today, a week after the format flip that was supposed to involve WLIB simulcasting 98.7 FM.
Did they file an STA to explain why they're dark? If not, it's probably an equipment (or power, or program feed) issue at the MediaCo facility.
