The way these things normally work, the next PPM monthly will probably show Jack-FM with its highest numbers to-date.

SURE ENOUGH:  In the PPMs released today, on its last day of existence, Jack jumped from 1.9 to 2.6, easily its best 6+ share ever.  So any other company but Salem might have stuck with it.  Damn!

It really is sad and does show how sick of the status quo this city is.

Yes, and also consider that that 2.6 puts it only a half-point below big-signal WLVQ (3.1); 0.7 above WCGX (1.9); and 2.1 above WTDA News 103.9 (0.5).  And no doubt the demos are even better.

Someone, snap up Jack -- hopefully along with Kunes -- quick while it still has this momentum!

And one point I forgot: Jack's up-trend does not look like a fluke, because this is their third -- and by far highest -- uptick in a row. Starting in July, it's been 1.5->1.7->1.9->2.6.

What station should pick up the Jack format vacated by Salem radio in favor of News/Talk?
What about 105.3?

Jack FM is now running these liners:

"In case somebody asks you next week, you have never heard of Jack FM."

Does this mean no other stations in Columbus can use the Jack FM slogan?

Although the voiceguy and idea is from Sparknet, I do believe it was being locally programmed here in Columbus. As long as whoever (if someone) picks it up uses Jack FM, it'll be the same voiceguy with the same music montage at the beginning of the hour.

Right - Someone else could technically work out a deal with Sparknet to license the JackFM , Programming etc.. I believe your able to have a local model or use a satellite format.

I have to say pretty fun to hear Radio One make fun of the sale here in the end... They even changed their RDS scroll to say "The End is Near!"

Just before starting "End of the World As We Know It" (last song?) they made a reference to the need to listen at Jack.Fm for awhile. For awhile? Hmmm....

Then Porky Pig, "That's All Folks." Then "hello, hello, do I need to turn of the lights or something"? Then the usual top-of-hour sweeper. Now Ronald Reagan...?

Last two songs on Jack FM

"Joan Osbourne Lyrics - If God Was One of Us"

"R.E.M. - It's the end of the world as we know it"

They played their LEGAL ID then went dead air breifly ...

Salem has taken over...

The Regan thing I am guessing is some form of "Salem stunting" ... The Jack.FM liners have been running off and on all evening.

I'm still intrigued by the "need to listen at Jack.Fm FOR AWHILE." Probably wishful thinking, but I'd like to think the "for awhile" part is actually significant, i.e. plans in the works for another station to switch to Jack soon??

103.9 would be smart to pick up the format and build out their new transmitter site.

There is a countdown on the "98.9 The Answer" Facebook page counting down to 6am... possibly that's when there'll be officially launching?

Guess so -- Since they are going to run "syndicated talkers" .. It would make sense to "stunt" overnight (when no one really listens to radio anyways) .. and launch at 6am.. Also means Salem doesn't have to have someone up all night to ensure automation / satellite feeds etc.. work.

For anyone who wants it, the last hour....
