The lamptimer was just feeling sad today. :(
 
The lamptimer is not controlling the new Nautel except to be able to turn it off and on as requred by the FCC and to monitor the proper output power. All the power levels are controlled by the contoller in the transmitter which is programmed for the 3 power levels.
 
As long as there's something in the system which allows cumulative error in time to collect or drain off, I'm reassured.

Three power levels? We know about 5 gallons, and about 52 watts, but what's
the third? Are you referring to a PSRA, which now is not needed until September?

And what exactly is the PSRA power? The data on the FCC site is really hinky.

BTW, the power drop tonight ("7:15") was at 7:14:55 PM.
 
Congrats to the new Lamptimer (aka Nautel) for powering down to those
52 big watts right at the specified 7:45 PM tonight, June 1. :)

Sorry, shouldn't get ahead of myself; it's just so exciting to think that the Goldmine could be unearthed. ;D
 
An HD2 with more pow- pow- power than its originating signal - although it's likely more commonplace than one would think.

The wonder of it all - The Goldminers have arrived!  ;D

How does Kookie sound in "crystal clear HD sound"? In living monaural, I'd reckon?

What if you're KDUS The Fan and you've been bumped off for The Goldmine? ???

Guess this means Lumberyard 14~Forty will soon be heard by more people than the PA system at a Home Depot ;) Worn out oldies on both Ancient Modulation and FM 24/7. YIKES!
 
Just heard the new top of the hour ID at midnight with "KAZG Scottsdale / Phoenix and KDKB HD2 Mesa / Phoenix." After hearing this, I blew off the dust on the ol' HD radio and sure enough, there it is, KAZG in HD quality sound on 93.3 KDKB HD2. I guess now I finally have a reason to listen to HD radio! ;D

As far as The Fan AM 1060 is concerned, you can still hear them on KUPD HD2. I always thought it was kind of pointless to have The Fan on two HD sub-channels so moving the Lumberyard to KDKB HD2 makes sense.

Man, how far the Lumberyard has come within the last few months. First, night-time 24/7 broadcasting with a new Nautel transmitter and now as of yesterday, HD Radio broadcasting. Now we're talkin' Sandusky*! 8)



*Someone should really consider changing the company name. It's forever stained thanks to a certain Penn State coach. Why don't we all just start calling them Gumpdusky! ;)

This! The company should have an on-air or social media contest to help decide the new name. Who knows, it might get a little media attention.

Actually the Lumberyard 14~Forty license is held by Cactus Radio, which in turn is owned by SandGumpdusky. Does Cactdusky work for anyone ???

With all the technical improvements over at the Goldmine*, the Nurse and I think their web site should be updated and all references to being a daytimer removed. Streaming audio would be nice for those out of towners who've never heard worn-out oldies!




* not to be confused with a high school non-comm in the East Valley
