A day in the life of a lamptimer

So what in the Wide World of Sports is going on today at the Lumberyard? They're playing some sort of classic rock music it seems. Is this a new weekend format? This fan of the 14-in-a-row Goldmine is worried! :-\

Actually, scratch that, they're re-broadcasting the KSLX 100.7 FM feed on 1440 right now. Oh uh, have the Goldminers got out on strike or have they been given their pink slips from Sandusky? This is an all hands on deck call to the Esteemed Doctor of Buckeye, oldiesfan, catfish with a lower case "c" and Kool Lauren. What's going on here? ???

Speaking of ways to improve contemporary radio with Gordon McLendon's evergreen ideas (as Dr. Akbar was), the Todd Storz estate could have a Schafer 800 loaded into a UHaul and shipped to the Lumberyard in no time! This unit is capable of full voice tracking, as long as you take the precaution of avoiding references to time, weather, title and artist.

At least the Lamptimer didn't cause it! ;)

I noticed during the simulcast that KSLX-FM is about eight seconds behind KAZG(AM).
Digital delay stuff? (Not to be confused with back in the day when KOPA(AM) played
the same songs about ten minutes after KOPA-FM!)

Whew, that's a big relief catfish with a lower case "c", thanks for the update! I guess the appropriate analogy would be that there was an explosion down in the Goldmine and numerous workers were injured mining those golden nugget oldies. We'll have to just enjoy the KSLX simulcast in all it's mono glory until the Goldmine is back up and running!

Those damned wardrobe and automation malfunctions have left our beloved goldminers buck nekkid and working in the dark with no idea when subterranean power will be restored. It's time Nurse Jeff and I call on Arizona's señor Senator to investigate mine safety and protect worn out oldies from worn out classic rock being forced down our ears. And what about Kim'nDon? What about Radio Sri? What about Canada Calling? Will Gumpdusky increase payroll by hiring a board op to fade down the KSLX feed so they can run brokered programming? Will catfish (lowercase c) give this his full attention, or will he be distracted by his duties at KDKB/KUPD/KSLX/KDUS? Does Bruce Kelly suffer these kind of malfunctions at the FM Goldmine? Does the Old Gringo have anything to say about automation malfunctions? This has all the makings of a major scandal. Los Buckeye Boyz will now refer to it as: Lumberyardgate

Love the name Doc - Lumberyardgate 2013!!

Here's the Lumberyardgate 2013 Day 3 update:
It's 11:30 A.M. and the weekday afternoon staple of KAZG is not on - Culinary Confessions with Kim and Don Dennis and Dianna (Kim and Don have left the building and moved to Florida fyi). Now it is a holiday, but if I recall correctly, Culinary Confessions usually broadcasts on minor holidays like President's Day. Tomorrow will be the true test to see if Lumberyardgate has affected Culinary Confessions. Also, a few times I have been caught tuning it to KAZG (or KSLX AM) and have heard some Goldmine favorites like Otis Redding, the Beach Boys and Lee Dorsey thinking that perhaps the Lumberyard is back up and running only to be fooled that it was still KSLX. I didn't realize KSLX played so many of the Goldmine oldies in FM stereo sound. I may have to tune-in to KSLX more often!

This has been another update on Lumberyardgate 2013!! Follow continuous updates all day long on 3 TV and the Arizona News Channel provided by Liz Habib and Tara Hitchcock. Also, follow updates on News Radio 620 KTAR provided by David Leibowitz and Preston Westmoreland. :p

If KSLX is in HD, then it's going to be 8.something seconds late.

All they need to do is change the call letters back to KOPA and the Retronaut transformation is complete. Where's Jay Stone when we need him?

Where's the Safari Resort when we need it most? As the Nurse and I recall, it was in the West's most Midwestern Town and home to Scottsdale's first Ancient Modulation station - KPOK 14~Forty!

Smack dab in the middle, across the parking lot from the Safari and upstairs above the hair salon. If the power went out in later years, you'd fire up a Honda generator on the patio and plug in an extension cord.

Bring back Chaz Kelley, Howard Hoffman, Steve Rivers and Crazy Dave! (Yeah, I know Howard and Dave both did AM drive... so what?) And did I really call the Round Up the Rodeo Drive in? I am getting old! :-[

Bring back K~DOT. Didn't make sense for the AM, but One Hundred Dot Seven did.

yo catfish...just hook up your iPod to the Nautel and the Goldminers are back in business!

AKJef Enterprises, in cooperation with Preston Westmoreland and J.J., the King of Beepers, presents:

Guess the name of the first worn out oldie played when the Goldminers fix the automation
and win a Million Dollars!

Some lucky Ancient Modulation listener will catch catfish (lower case c) yank the KSLX feed and return KAZG to its normal 14 in a row format. And when that happens, simply write the correct title of the first song you hear on a postcard and mail it to Media Hut Occupants, PO Box '76, Buckeye AZ. If your card is selected, you'll win a Million Dollars (paid one dollar a year for the next million years). Not since the last first 100 degree day of the year has Valley radio been so worked up about a radio contest! Here's what people are saying: "..is it raining where you are?", "..am I on the air now?", "..baby, you're the ginchiest!" So keep all your radios tuned to Lumberyard 14~Forty and you could be $1,000,000.00 richer! KAZG with 52 watts at night that sound like a million
