A day in the life of a lamptimer

Sayin' sayonara for a while here on Lumberyard 14~Forty, but before we give it up to Radio Kushi for a few hours, it's the Captain and Tennille with a good reason to keep a ten foot pole around the house! http://bit.ly/1fybn7p (and the snare drum player works OVERTIME on this 2:28 gem...check it!)

Here's a KAZG playlist suggestion from '70 that reached #4 in the USA. Today's hip hop artists only wish they could rhyme like this man. "I can see him with a shovel in his hand," cuz my Pappy was an original gold miner! http://bit.ly/1eeCDdc

That record has more scratches than the left front fender of our '76 Gremlin. YIKES!!

Here's a marginal hit from the late Sixties that's sure to get the goldminers going: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5WrzDH54Co Imagine the sound of the train wreck when this follows "My Way" by Frank Sinatra!

"Marginal"?! It reached #2 on the Hot 100!
From the same fall '68 period they play "The Weight", which didn't even reach the top 40.

All the reason more NOT to play The Weight! Next time we see catfish (lower case c) at Lo-Lo's, we'll ask him to bring a play history of that title with him. Our hunch is it gets aired at least six times a day on Lumberyard 14~Forty, simply because there are no title or artist duplication issues. If you're going to play a Robbie Robertson song on KAZG, might as well add this to the playlist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFA5JgwdEy4

re: Arthur Brown. okay...it wasn't marginal. Just downright weird!

52 sizzling watts of nite-time pow-pow-power is enough to warm the c0ckles of the hardest of hearts. Snugglin' up on a Friday night on the bearskin rug with a bottle of fine red-blend wine, and Lumberyard 14~Forty is settin' the sensual mood for you and your sweetheart with this Goldmine classique: http://bit.ly/17AB2eI

What's with this "The new 1440" liner I heard today that mentions "sunrise to sunset"?

New? That liner pre-dates the installation of the Nautel and full-time wornout oldies on Lumberyard 14~Forty. They never got around to changing it...or figured the 52 watt night signal made the station sound like a daytimer to most of the Valley!

As Mother Hubbard researches the market, she should know that KRIZ/KRUX/KUPD played this worn-out monster hit to death back in '75. At just over two minutes, it's one small slab of vinyl, but one giant Goldmine of an auditorium test! Imagine this on 14~Forty...it's got more hooks than a tackle box: http://bit.ly/14mNRdV

LMAO.

NML, you're on your way to catching the Old Gringo in total number of posts. We'll check back in three years...should be pretty close by then!

Here's the ultimate golden oldie that should be the goldminer's anthem and played on Lumberyard 14~Forty: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGt9rcMJJXI I've been to Hollywood..I've been to Redwood..and I've been to the canal bank buscando para un corazón lleno de oro.

Here's one recorded at Audio Recorders in Phoenix that may or may not be about the funky club scene on Broadway Rd, depending upon who you talk to. Before Wilson Pickett made it a hit, Dyke & The Blazers was down and gritty in our fair city... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3C5Kl58eMTA

WOW!...had no idea Phoenix could be that funky. Parts 1 and 2, no less.

While we continue to post suggestions for KAZG's playlist, the Nurse and I came up with a rather unique format for Mother Hubbard to consider when they take over from Gumpdusky. If everyone else is playing the hits, where do the really bad songs go for airplay? That's right...there's no station currently
playing Alll Bad Songs, all the time. It's a niche about an inch wide and a mile deep, but it just might catch on 'cause it's soooo bad. And that could be good! Imagine hearing this crap on Lumberyard 14~Forty 24/7 http://badsongradio.webnode.com

Well be up late tonight at the Media Hut waiting for Mother Hubbard's call.
