Last full day of ALT 92.3, so what's next? Will we ever get another alternative station in the near future?
Yes! 92.3 HD2.Last full day of ALT 92.3, so what's next? Will we ever get another alternative station in the near future?
I wonder where the current "New Arrivals" channel on HD2 will end up, if anywhere.Below is a link to the RadioInsight article.
WNYL Sign-Off Plans (RadioInsight)
The article says, "Alternative music will move to 92.3 HD2 [tomorrow at 9:00 am], with a commercial-free presentation." I interpret that to mean that Alt 92.3 on HD2 will be commercial-free for the short term.
I'm sure in a few years when one the stations in the cluster is faltering in the ratings and the bookings are in the toilet, the powers that be will look around to see if they think there's a market for it and if there is, try again. I don't think it will be for a long while at this point and I also think that there may be a realization that the makeup of the listeners in this market just doesn't support a station playing that format.Last full day of ALT 92.3, so what's next? I wonder what would happen if 1010 WINS gets bad ratings on the 92.3 feedI'm sure in a few years when one the stations in the cluster is faltering in the ratings and the bookings are in the toilet, the powers that be will look around to see if they think there's a market for it and if there is, try again. Very interesting programming. I do wonder what the final song will be.
Another one I remember being used before, American Pie, (The Day the Music Died). Two of the most obvious, "Closing Time", Semisonic, "It's the End of the World as We Know It", by R.E.M.
I'm sure that we could spend time listing songs that have been used or could be used to end the music format of a station, but remember that the final song has to fit the alternative format of WNYL.Another one I remember being used before, American Pie.
It looks like the final song will be played closer to 1300 Dublin time since that is when the farewell show will end.Very interesting programming. I do wonder what the final song will be.
I’m in Ireland for the week and can’t stream Audacy, so I guess I’ll find out here around 1400 (Dublin time).

I noticed the farewell show will end an hour before the simulcast starts. Probably an hour or jockless songs before the switch over?It looks like the final song will be played closer to 1300 Dublin time since that is when the farewell show will end.
Ugh, but good call. I remember someone else signing off with that, RXP, maybe, IDK.Green Day-Time of your life
Barry guessed that stunting will take place during the hour.I noticed the farewell show will end an hour before the simulcast starts. Probably an hour or jockless songs before the switch over?
Which gives chrocket87's prediction just as much legitimacy. A guess is a guess. My guess is an hour of smooth jazz, '50s/'60s oldies, and disco.Barry guessed that stunting will take place during the hour.
