Alt 92.3

I offered a third solution, which is charge listeners for radio. That's what Sirius does. That's what public radio does.
That would require a change in FCC regulations, likely at the the congressional level. AM and FM and broadcast TV are intended to operate as free services.

Public radio is free if you decide not to contribute.

Current technology and all current receivers are based on AM and FM being free. It's a little late to change over 300 million radios in the US.

I listened to all those stations but not for the new Bush song.
I'll bet if a station decided to break all the rules, with indie music, and personalities who were intelligent and conroversial, people would tune in
Again, the issue here is not "rules" (of which, actually, there are none) or what label a band records for, but the fact that there is a highly fragmented base for alternative rock where there is very little mass commonality. That, increasingly, makes the format untenable for terrestrial free radio.

I'm just offering ideas. People want radio to do what they want. The question is who pays? There is no federal regulation required to change rock or alternative radio stations to a non-commercial model. There is no federal regulation that requires radio companies to operate for profit. EMF runs a great business. There's no reason why a rock or alternative based company couldn't do the exact same thing. All it takes is a little imagination and a little dedication.

Sure. No problem. The question remains is who pays for it? How much would you pay for the radio programming you want?

Hey I live in Los Angeles and Kroq is losing to alt 98.7 the iheart alt and one thing alt 98.7 they had there alter ego show concert they have been throwing the past few years minus 2021 but it's like audacy owned Kroq has given up on events. No weenie roast last summer and no almost acoustic Christmas. I don't live in NYC but is 92.3 having any events? It's like Audacy isn't putting there all into it.

Shouldn't stations be doing live remotes. There's always gonna be variants etc...Time to get back out there alt stations...

Maybe you haven't heard but covid is causing a lot of events to get canceled particularly in LA and NYC. Stations have to operate within their local medical restrictions. Here's what they're promoting:

I messaged the station on FB to ask if they were doing Not So Silent Night this year. Oddly enough, someone got back to me rather quickly and said no but they were working on their summer show for 2022. I bet you'll see the KROQ events back. Whether or not they'll have any exclusive talent pull is another question.

I know but alt 98.7 worked around it you had to either be vaxxed or a test to attend. Sorry but they need to figure a way to work it out. Alt 98.7 did. I will reiterate. There will always be variants. There will always be viruses. Covid is no longer a reason to cancel events or not have them. At first yes but we are well past time. Were two years into this. Radio needs to figure it out and get on with life...

Thank you! Limited seating is better than none at all, encourage (but don't enforce) the vax, and get back to reality!

Holy (bleep). Have you consumed any news lately? Yeah, let’s keep spreading things. Let’s keep beating overworked, overwhelmed healthcare workers into the ground by spreading an especially contagious variant. What’s the harm as hospitals get stretched to and past the breaking point; your individual enjoyment far outweighs public health adjustments.

The selfishness in this society is astounding sometimes.

Except hospitalizations now appear to be decreasing, and hospitals in this country have never reached the apocalyptic "bodies stacked in the streets" stage that various doom merchants have been screeching since Spring 2020. Not saying we'll never reach that "breaking point," but people pushing that view now are losing credibility daily, IMO.
