Alt 92.3

You're previous post was to get back on topic, then you immediately veer off? Refuse to turn this into a back and forth based on those grounds. I stand by my statement to go by the numbers and nor anecdotes.

As for Muse, they have been a staple of Alternative radio for a long time. I remember them being heavily played in Boston on WFNX.
I really like the latest from muse but I listen to Kroq and alt 98.7 but haven't heard the songs at all including one from bring me the horizon

The other Audacy-wide add besides Muse and BMTH this week was “Chaise Longue” by Wet Leg, who is a British indie rock duo with a crazy amount of hype behind them. WNYL has begun spinning that as well. It’s another sign of how priorities have changed; WNYL and Audacy sat on Chaise Longue for months despite it having a steady increase in popularity on TikTok and other social media.

As for Muse, Alt staple or not, listen to “Won’t Stand Down” and tell me if WNYL or Audacy at large would have spun it even six months ago. Listen to the downtuned guitars and tell me that WNYL would have found it acceptable when they didn’t find softer songs by Rise Against, Foo Fighters, Offspring, and other Alt veterans acceptable. The fact that it’s Audacy-wide and that it’s more or less been confirmed that John Allers is in charge of current adds at Audacy tells the story.

KROQ has developed a habit of waiting until the weekend to start playing the adds they report each week. WNYL has done that before too.
True but I would assume it would be like chr adding a Ariana grande song as soon as it dropped or a Madonna tune back in the day. They would automatically add it. So I would assume muse would work the same way with the alt format.

Will alt radio ever add meet me at our spot with willow and the anxiety? Excellent song I guess better known as catch a vibe

I love this song, even though it's actually nearly 18 months old. This is one of those examples of TikTok exposure giving the song a huge boost. I was surprised it never got any radio airplay. As a user, I am acutely aware of what is trending, and that has been and gone.

I don't think being 18 months old doesn't mean much regarding age or redundancy. Most Alternative stations are playing songs that are 30 years old.

It did get up to 21 on billboard hot 100 and I listen to the radio and I never heard it on the chr station or the two alt stations la has. It probably made it onto the syndicated countdown down show out of order. The alt rock countdown show hosted by Stryker.

That's a whole other thread in itself... Don't come at me for the following statement but, I'm pushing 50, and I can't understand why Alternative (and Active Rock for that matter) stations are playing stuff that is 30 years old. For formats that are supposed to be contemporary, it seems gold/classic tracks bulk up the format in most cases. What makes those two formats unable to evolve like CHR does?

Yep can't wait to here that new song by the red hot chili peppers under the bridge or say let's here that other new song by nirvana smells like teen spirit. I am so burned out on that song I would much rather here TORI AMOS cover or the fusion cover by THE BAD PLUS

So let's see. They still haven't filled the morning drive slot, and now they have an opening for overnights. Interesting.

I doubt overnights will be filled. If it does, it might be voicetracked from somewhere like LA or Seattle…

Do you think Bryce was actually live every night during his shift? Most Audacy stations VT that shift with their MD or some day staff.

Or they could just do what they're doing now in morning drive, which is Auto Mation.
