Didn't Eddie own the parking lot that was next to Foxboro Stadium and the old Foxboro raceway? later sold it

Eddis has been a shill for the Kowloon for years going back to the old Sports Huddle days on WEEI. He always pitches ads for them

before that, there were ads for China Sails... "it's the Wong time and the Wight place!"... I wonder if it's the same family who own Kowloon
incidentally, in an off-topic, kind of odd aside, Eddie and Red Auerbach both have lo-mein dishes named after them. Both dishes have shrimp... Eddie and Red (R.I.P.) are Jewish and Jewish dietary laws forbid the consumption of shellfish.
I DO miss the old Sports Huddle, as I've said before. I wish I had a tape of that "Yawkey Jeans" fake ad they ran.

yep...
by the way, it was alluded to earlier but it was Mike Andelman who hosted a short-lived Saturday afternoon show on WEEI ca '94-95 and it's one of the worst shows in that station's history.

Eddie and Mike concotted the "Sports Rap" concept and then convinced Bev Tilden to add a weekend show for younger 12-24 sports fans. Mike was already working at 'EEI(in promo and sales) for a couple years after graduating from Union so it's not like he was totally green walking into the radio business.
The Big, Fat O took over programming from Tilden sometime in '95 and the Andelmans knew the "Sports Rap" had its days numbered. Then "stripper in the studio" was the last nail in the coffin...
Maybe it was Eddie's general "tude" more so than his contract.Boston_Bill said:It was no secret Andelman and Ordway didnt get along, it was so bad they couldnt even do the crossover together. I think most of WEEI probably hated Andelman for his contract and those trips to Las Vegas to "cover" boxing matches.

Lucylu said:I think Eddie's day in the sun, as far as radio goes, is long over. The Zone's poor signal didn't help, but Eddie isn't the draw he used to be (if he ever was). I remember hearing, a couple of years ago, that he wanted to do a TV show on Ch. 56 where he would talk about the topics other than sports. His bright idea was to have Steve Sweeney on the show 'to bring in the younger demo'.True, they would be younger than Eddie's crowd, but talk about not getting it.
How long before someone launches an investigation into payola and the Phantom?
It helps when you are the only sports show in town!Lucylu said:(if he ever was).
