Anti-Bob website

The Bobfmsucks site is done up professionally, at least.
The Jack FM sucks site is very poorly done up.
If I were Infinity, it (the Jack sucks site) would go in one ear and out the other, written off as a bunch of people who don't "Get it"

While the Bob Fm Sucks site is a good read that will hopefully attract the attention of the right people in managment at Bob there. Respectfully, perhaps there's another station that BOB could have surfaced on that wouldn't have caused such a noise. (heh, same for JACK NY, but that's been discussed...)
______________

People are stupid to beleive a petition is going to make Bob go away. That is less than an 8th percent of the actuall listeners, if not much less. Writing BOB, or any other radio station who changed formats, will do know good, they will end up in the shredder.

If the ratings go up, I hope the people who run the website have enough class to say "We don't like Bob personally, but we admit it was a good business decision as the ratings have improved".

If they think an "anti" website will do any good....
what a joke.

Bob website

Totally agree. This stuff is usually started by ex-board ops who can't keep a job in radio. But, hey- it makes 'em feel good for 5 minutes or so.

I have to agree with Yes he knows radio (YeziKnoradio)
Regardless of who put the site together or why.
At least the BOB sucks site is neat, easy to read, and professionally done up.
Regardless of who cares about it, or how I may or may not feel about the variety hits format, I respect the effort that went into it, and how it looks alot better than the Jack sucks site.

We can argue forever that it's a waste of time (or not), but credit should still be given where credit is due, and I'm sure Oldies cat and others will agree that a fan of good web design (at the VERY least), can apreciate that the bob sucks site is a great effort, not a slopy one...waste of time or not. For that, we should all salute the creators of Bobsucks...regardless of the attention it gets (or doesn't)

But my point is: what IS the point of putting up such a site?

It may be graphically attractive but it is what it is- former board-ops and jocks fired by the station trying to strike back. The former format was a ratings dog- it's time to move on and make something positive happen.

Hate to burst your bubble bud, but it was actually put together by a listener...now, wether or not the listener is friend or family of a former employee...
______________

Same dif. It makes whomever feel good for 5 minutes-- then what? I love it when these stations with lousy ratings go away and some (a few) people act as if it's an afront to the entire radio world. Station was a dog, time to move on.

Re: Bob website

In this case though, it's started by people who know what does and doesn't work in radio.

You obviously don't know what you're talking about, Oldies Cat.

True- big backers of a 1-share radio station. Real geniuses.

ONE SHARE? REALLY?
______________

Bob website

I was figuratively speaking, of course- they had a number of months actually (without quoting 25-54 exactly and breaking rules) in the twos recently.

Two things to keep in mind: if they weren't profitable, a 10 share might not be good enough. I'd also bet they sniffed an imminent Jack sign-on and wanted to strike first.

Well put, and the bottom line ends up being that the door is open for another station to steal their old format, but if they were truely at the bottom of the book, why worry...right?

A much better example comes out of Kingston Ontario Canada, where a Country station had excellent numbers, but the station fliped to Joe FM anyway (Playing anything). The station down the dial switched from top 40 to Country and is getting good numbers. No word on wether or not if, perhaps a rumour of the top 40 station going Jack prompted the change at the station that became Joe though, but if I were running the country station there, I would have kept it country. It had a strong loyal listener base, and the numbers to proove it!
______________

Re: Bob website

Watch out OC, Steppenwolf might be taking your food order
one day and recognize you. Then you'll really be in for it.

Or will that be, WE will really both be in for it? Since we
are "the same person(s).."

Sorry, for even less of a minor contribution than SW.
Edited by tibbs on 11/13/05 05:53 PM.
