Atlanta's Getting Wild

To me, this means no format swaps or anything with 105.7/96.7 if/when WGST goes to FM. Would make sense to launch the new branding when a frequency switch is made.

Let's hope the soon-to-be WiLD 105.7 gets the same party feeling excitement that they offer in SF with WiLD 94.9. This is a great move for The Groove to attract more younger listeners, and maybe Q100 will be affected this time.

Oh yeah, the younger listeners are so stupid that they'll forget all about not liking the stations if they change the freakin' name. And that trick of dropping one lower-case letter in the middle of the world is just the bee's knees. All the young hipsters will think that's just fab and really gear. [/sacasm off]

Hopefully a format swap can still happen, and my hopes are based on all the comments I see about the 105.7 and 96.7 signals not being sufficient enough to cover the Atlanta metro area properly.

I wonder if they're keeping WWVA or changing it? The "VA" really has no match to anything that's going on anymore... and I believe "GA" is still not in use.

Maybe if/when WGST makes the jump to FM, Clear Channel will park the WWVA calls on 640, and reprogram it as a vintage gold station calling itself "Nine!" (There's no city in Georgia called "Pound Ridge," is there? ;D )

Nice.

The AM calls have been in Wheeling, West Virginia since the beginning of time.

It's about perception.

Younger listeners who may have sampled Groove back when it first launched and associate it with "disco" or older rhythmic AC music aren't necessarily convinced that they've changed and may not be willing to give them a chance to prove that they've changed. Rebranding as Wild (or WiLD) will reinforce the shift and the expected outcome is that they will see it as a new station.

As long as the ratings keep going "up, up, and away..." I don't have much more to say.
Say what you want about ClearChannel, but these days, when it comes to rhythmic and chr, I love ClearChannel.
As a matter of fact, things are getting pretty interesting in general, ratings-wise in Atlanta.

(Lets see how long it takes before certain formats start "tweaking up" their playlists a bit and adding certain hits as an attempt to beat their competition).

Anyone have an idea/heard when the name change to WiLD will happen? In addition to the re-branding the station, I hope they add more songs to their playlist too. WiLD 94.9 in San Francisco is a great rhythmic station... lets hope Clear Channel can make it happen here.

www.wild967.com goes to PROJECT 96.1's home page. Clear Channel kept that domain I see.

listening online and they are still groove105.7/96.7

I wonder if this has anything to do with CC Atlanta stepping in it with 86ing Dave Ramsey. Maybe this move is bigger than a simple rebrand.
