Atlanta's Getting Wild

NEW VOICE GUY AND NEW BLACK AND ORANGE LOGO (COULD'VE BEEN BETTER). SO AFTER ALL THESE YEARS, CC BRING'S WILD BACK TO LIFE. AJ JAM WHERE R YA?

I check the website, they've seemed to change the name. Where's the logo? ???

I like the Dance leaning Wild 102.7 in Atantic City and thats what im looking for... I know I cant probably might as well quit looking,, but lets just click em on and see how they sound.

Based on how they made the new logo (which IMO is terrible, I expected the logo they used for WiLD 94.9 SF/WiLD 107.5 Portland), and the new V/O, they're most likely going for the rhythmic approach.

Something told me to get up at 1:52am and log in because I had a feeling something was up and I'd see some new news! Well... I will not give my opinion on the logo because I'm sure everyone can accurately guess how I feel about the station and knows I have a biased opinion without me even saying it. Now Atl. has a party station and San Fransisco doesn't! Who woulda thought.... ok never mind.

As far as taking off the weakest signal, I'm not too fond of this idea because for some reason, I feel like the weakest signal is the one I'll have to use to listen in Fayetteville. If the station is going to be placed on another full power competitive signal, then I'm all for it (but even though it is possible, I doubt that this is the plan for now- since they've already made a logo for 105.7/96.7).

I am very happy about the name change and the format, and hope they keep it party style. Finally, 16 years later, an Atlanta rhythmic party radio station dream comes true! (Well actually, the first few years of WBTS and WWWQ were even greater in many ways, but of course I missed that time period.) Anyway, enough with dwelling on the past. Let me just be happy, NOW.

I just hope they don't go "too urban" - we already have HOT 107.9 and V-103.

We need something in the middle and I hope they take some "risks" with other songs (for example, still no David Guetta/Kid Cudi - Memories, no Chris Brown - Yeah 3X, no Gorilla Zoe - Echo, no new Bruno Mars songs, no Mike Posner - Please Don't Go, no Kanye West - Runaway, no Sean Kingston - Letting Go, no Far East Movement - Rocketeer, no Akon - Angel, no Yolanda Be Cool - We Speak No Americano, and they still don't play Ne-Yo - One In A Million or BoB - Don't Let Me Fail during the day). :-[

I see that Maverick from the old 95.5 The Beat is now the Program Director. I'll give them a month and we'll see what happens with this station. I'm crossing my fingers.

Not a huge fan of the new logo. Looks awful in my opinion. I like the logo of Wild 94.1 in Tampa, FL.

Also why don't they just call the station Wild Atlanta instead of saying Wild 105.7 and Wild 96.7, I can see them saying 105.7 and 96.7 once in awhile tho.

I just hate the fact that Clear Channel wanted former BEAT jocks. A fresh new station with new jocks would've been great. Mami Chula is ok, but Maverick just seems dull and boring. Andre Perry's(Q100) 6pm mixshow plays the same songs everyday. They seem to be using Johhny D(95.5 The Beatt) for the Saturday night broadcast and DJ Kidd (95.5 The Beat) is also on board. Now that Clear Channel has gone back to the WiLD brand they need major ad campaign beacuse the normal radio listeners. Why didn't Clear Channel do this back in 2000/01 when they already had Wild 96.7?

I agree. I would have liked to see new personalities instead, although Mami Chula isn't bad and I like her mix show every night. I'm not too excited about Maverick, especially that he is the program director now. The BEAT was very repetitive and they were very slow adding new music or not adding many songs at all (but what's new in Atlanta? we always get screwed and deprived of songs other markets in the country get to enjoy) and WiLD as of right now is pretty much the old BEAT. I really wanted to see a completely new program director and with this being a Clear Channel station, I had much higher hopes. Oh well... stations are always evolving so let's hope their playlist improves... but I swear I'm going to beat my head against the wall if they keep playing BoB - Airplanes and Katy Perry - Teenage Dream over and over again.

It's time to add new songs and why did they stop playing Usher - Hot Tottie and Usher - DJ Got Us Falling In Love (it's freaking Atlanta, Usher's hometown, and they can't even keep these songs on? Other stations around the country are still playing them), Flo-Rida - Club Can't Handle Me, Drake - Fancy, and Will.I.Am - Check It Out??? The fact that they keep removing songs from the playlist, then add some back on (example - Teenage Dream), and hardly add anything new illustrates they don't know what they are doing.

Well... I didn't notice those things happening recently. I don't know what to say. At least you all did get some Benni Benassi "spaceship" played today (unless my source is lying to me...).

That was a mistake on yes.com... :) :-[

I must admit I am 100% stumped on these "turn of events". Even WLLD is using Flo Rida's "club can't handle me", and they are as "urbanized" as ever! I can't even jump to any conclusions or make any assumptions to what's going on or whether or not the whole station ID/name switchover affected anything musically, temporarily. I could understand Chris Brown's "yeah 3x" not getting played, but not Flo Rida "club can't handle me". Maybe it will come back.. With two Katy Perry songs now sneaking their way back into WWVA airplay, I wouldn't worry too much about the "going too urban" thing, although, I do notice WiLD now has that strong WBTS sound to it.. Anyway, everyone already knows that there's already more than a sufficient amount of urban material present in Atl, so I doubt WWVA will take the WQHT or even the WLLD route. I guess we can only wait a few weeks or days and see what happens. Something's definitely up because "Airplanes" by B.O.B. played twice WITHIN one hour...

Lastly, I will say that Maverick doesn't sound that dull to me. He actually sounds alright on WiLD in my opinion.

Hmmm, wonder if WiLD will do what THE BEAT did to climb up the ratings. Play Urban recurrents in the ground, play only the top 5 songs and try to sound hip. Maverick was the MD for The BEAT under Cagle and we know what they sounded like even changing the positioner to "#1 for Hip-Hop." Remember Clear Channel's original WiLD 96.7 started out as Rhythmic like it is now and flipped to Urban as "WiLD 96.7, The Little Station."

@Mike7586

Looks like WWVA is becoming more like this station in many ways..

I see they (KKFR) dropped, or drastically decreased

Memories - Kid Cudi
Club can't handle me - Flo Rida

Will not play

Yeah 3x - Chris Brown
