AUCTION IN RUTLAND?

I know a lot of people in this business who were at one time amongst "the best people in radio". Unfortunately the industry has changed in so many ways that some of those people are now doing things that they would have never dreamed of doing before. Let's face it, it's not the same business it was 5, 10 or even 15 years ago. I know Rutland has had many dedicated & hard working radio folks, but since the corporations started moving in, everything changed. I've heard a lot of good things about the individuals that were mentioned in this thread. Mostly from the days before CC & Pamal being in the MKT. As far as Pamal goes, I know several former and many current employees in different markets and they don't appear to be the happiest of employees. The owner of the company is a used car salesman and the management style that's exhibited by Pamal these days is just like the car business. You always hope that lessons will be learned by management, but rarely does that happen.

Well, did anybody hear the auction ? Couldn't miss it since it was broadcast on 3 of Pamal Rutland stations. Your take ?

I thought it sounded great!! The announcers were top notch ;) Not bad for a first time around at it. Just a taste of what is to come from the Rutland crew.

I'll give you that, I thought Brian, Vince, Jack, and Judy knew the drill totally. I also give you folks credit for getting stuff from outside the greater Rutland area. Seemed to me that while there were some very good no-brainer items, there was also a lot of things you folks may have got stuck with as well.

Hmmm...good question on the take! I wonder...how much of that was cash? Will an audit be done? Or will it just....disappear...perhaps buried on the island somewhere?

It's back!!! This Saturday tune in your radio's to WSYB and Cat Country for the 2nd Catamount Radio Auction. Perhaps they will start it all off by auctioning off a bottle of no doze! The host had me asleep 3 minutes into it...and then I woke up at 4pm, and he WAS STILL TALKING!!

Tick tock Poon...Tick tock. Nice try, but your jig is up :-*

Marbles, get a grip!!!! your "action auction" (lol) is hilarious. I remeber it from last year!!! i would like a bowling ball please (lol) or how about a $10 GIFT CARD TO PONDEROSA. (LOL) but when you go to give away a car you don't even show up for the event, along with your boss by the way, where were you guys ... you call yourself the professer, that don't seem very profes. oh wait z put that remote on. ;D... FIGURES!!!! can't wait until this auction maybe i'll bid on a universal remote or a black and white tv maybe some colored santas... HINT HINT!!! ??? UNTIL NEXT TIME BILL-ARE-SPAIDNFUL

Hey Bill Spaidinful,
Well said....Although it was a joke AGAIN! I did manage to make a few bids and actually bought something this year....(Relax Opera House people, do you really think I would say which item? That would take all the fun out of this) And speaking of taking all the fun out, PLEASE get Big Mike back to do the next auction! 8 hours of reading off a cue card was torture!

Poon,

It seems to me that you've just proven to them that they don't need to change a thing. If a radio connoisseur such as yourself would tune in to (all?) a significant part of the program, and even PURCHASE something, the average joe will surely be just as dedicated no matter how badly it sucks.

I guess the bottom line is, if you can get the merch out the door, then no harm no foul. (Although I have to wonder if a quality broadcast might not fetch higher prices?) ::)

NH Radio,
Even I will take advantage of a good deal when I hear it...I mean who else could pass up on 1 pair of Size 7 hockey goalie pads? Do you have ANY idea how popular those are these days? Can't wait til the next Auction, perhaps I can pick up a toaster that only burns veggie bagels on a a Tuesday when it rained within the last week. Those, like hockey pads, are a hot item!!

Our Group of Radio Stations does an auction every year. We do it to raise money for the VSO (Vermont Symphony Orchestra). It takes most of the night but we raise quite a bit for them
