Re: And your point is what?

I guess my point is to create a good discussion about something apparently many people have opinions on. B 96 always used to break new songs like this with their former CHR/Dance format. Funny how 10 years changes things!

Great point MusicloverII!

I think it is the dance remix version. That is what I heard the time they aired it.

We should keep in mind that history is laden with crossovers where one song appeals strrongly in diverse formats. CHRs that played Anne Murray in the 70's were not "going country." Before any conclusion on a real course change can be made, we have to see consistent, and not occasional, changes in the mix.

Otherwise, we are like the theologians who would debate how many angels could dance ont he head of a pin...

Re: And your point is what?

Did somebody say "Anne Murray"??? Oooooooooooooh-weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I hear that she's teaming up with Timbaland on his next CD for a Hip-Hop remake of "Blessed Are The Believers".

Dat's HOT!

Of course, I'm kidding...

Way back in WMAQ's country days in the 70s, Charlie Warner would always defend the purists who would complain about the station playing Bobby Vinton (or Olivia Newton-John, or Neil Diamond, or even the Bee Gees) by saying that they played "the music people who like country music like." B96's primary audience groups are young Latino males, teenage girls and women in their 20s that don't particularly care for what 'TMX plays. Therefore, it's B96's job to play what those groups want to hear.

And ever since B96 went churban in the late 80s, they've always added the pop and rock songs that their audience base liked, even in the days when they were using the "Chicago's Dance Beat" and similar slogans. There's always been room for U2, Alanis, Sinead O'Connor, Bette Midler, Cher, Shania and now Green Day, if their audience likes it. That hasn't changed a bit.

They also played Lonestar's "Amazing" during that song's chart run when it reached #1.
