B94: Resurrect Old Talent or Not?

Kate was a jock on The Point 100.7. Wasn't that considered a Rock station?

70s/80s. Can't say I ever heard it but Kate is HORRIBLE on the morning show. Besides, I don't see a morning duo interested in going back to playing music for their whole shift.

Think of all the publicity locally plus nationwide (R&R, Billboard, Gannon, etc) they are getting by playing Christmas music in October. That alone gets the talk going about the change on Friday and brings more listeners in.

One thing I just remembered is Alexander worked for B back in mid 80s, so if they end up moving him into say evenings on B, that pretty much opens Star completely for a complete new format and airstaff as all really that remain would be J.R. and Kate.

Maybe they'll put a Rock station on 100.7 with O&A on mornings and JR and Kate during the day. This will make both the Top 40 fans and the Rock fans happy and we can all live in peace! Maybe...

Alexander won't work on Top 40. That's a definite. JR and Kate doing rock? No f-ing way. They suck at what they do right now.

The thing I don't understand is why the five day delay with Christmas music? Why didnt they just flip then and there or wait until they were ready and flip?

It was a corporate decision. They need time to prepare. The Detroit Free FM that flipped basically did a lineup shuffle and simulcast of its AM sister. That takes no time at all. Also, a long stunting period generates more buzz.

CBS Radio has a way of making format flips mistakes.........WBZZ-FM Pittsburgh, WCBS-FM in New York City (was oldies then was a jackfm until people flipped out and switched back) WXRK was K-Rock then FreeFM then K-Rock again, and WYSP-FM in Philadelphia going from Rock to Talk to Rock.

Those mistakes were from the brain of Joel Hollander, former Chief Executive Idiot.

Is there a website where I could see if new call letters have been registered to 93.7?

I am trying to find that out now. In the meantime regarding websites, I did check www.b94fm.com as a possible website and it is still active to be used again.

I looked on the FCC website under the station search and nothing i read showed a call letter request being made at this time. I think I am in the right place but maybe it takes a couple days for the paper work to go through or CBS radio hasn't gotten that far yet........

My guess is they're too busy this week to get around to calls. And since WBZZ is taken, there's no rush.

Someone may have hit this right... move most of Star to the B, and skew it only a little younger, then flip 100.7 to a rock format since the dial position is closer to DVE. Probably no jocks for a while there.

And just another strange thought.... I know the inside info was that Paulsen was fired. Was there ever an actual annoncement to that end? I don't know, I just can't see them not trying to find a way to use him on one of the two stations. He did once do afternoons on WHTX when O'Brien and Garry were the morning show.

The Trib reported that Paulsen returned calls saying he was fired. I bet he'd know if somehow he was sticking around.

Rumor has it J.D.B.S. in morning drive, Griffith in mid day, Hartwell in afternoons, up in the air so far otherwise. Have no idea if it is true, but the people who told me this were right on the money first time around rumors on B, Krock, and Zone happenings. I guess we will see.

From what I hear, Kerri Griffith's exit from CBS was not one that would lead to her being welcomed back.

Paulsen would be good as a morning host on The X or something similar, though I am not sure if he would want to go back to Clear Channel or Clear Channel would want him back, but I doubt he would leave the area because I know he has a connection here, then again, in this business you go where there is an opportunity otherwise you look for a new line of work.

The commission will approve the calls LOOONNNNGGG before they ever get on the website. The site is just for the benefit of the public.

Kate did afternoon's on the Point and was good. If I remember right, she moved to the morning show when Vicki Cohill moved to 92.9 to do an evenings. She does seem out of place in the mornings, though I think it may has more to do with being teamed with JR & Bubba.

I think she would be fine at any format that would be put on 100.7.

As for the future B-94 - I think she is doing something else, but what about Melanie Taylor.

And hopefully Scott Paulsen gets something - he is too talented to not have anything.
