I listened from about 6AM to the end. I realized a bit in that I had actually listened to them before somewhere else when I was travelling - I guess on some station they were syndicated on because I was not in Austin. I was quite surprised at how much I liked it. Like Gerry alluded to when he called in, they need to be themselves and talk about what is going on in their lives and people will listen. I think people want personality-driven radio. I have tons of music on my iPod. If I only want to hear songs, I'll listen to that. I want to connect to people.
Of course, just hearing Gerry for a few minutes made me realize how much I wish he was still on. I'm 39 - I listened to Gerry for years. I was very disappointed when he was basically forced out, but CC wanted all music and no personality because they can still manage a huge profit with that formula. Then, CC screwed Billy & Karla by forcing them to play a ton of music and have next to no talk and apparently no budget. They never stood a chance.
Now, we're back to something similar to what the House Foundation was in the first place. The only reason we're getting it now is because Billy Bones will be syndicated and knocking other shows off the air and saving CC money that way. But, I do think that Billy Bones, at least from day one, appears to be a pretty good fit for pulling in the younger demo, like NashvilleNative said. And, I think some of us that have slipped into the other demos will stick around also!
