Bob and Tom to Cumulus?

So does 102.9 drop Bob and Tom early? Or do they hold on to them as long as they can, and milk it dry?

Traditional wisdom says they do, if the contract allows it. There's no mention of B&T on the Buzz's new website.

If Buzz has dumped them, they've done Nashville a public service. Leave it to the Cluster-Whose-Name-Shall-Not-Be-Written to go rummaging through another cluster's garbage. Some things should stay in the can. To me, this seems even lower than stealing a low-ranked sports station's network.

By the way, that billboard reference to "free beer and hot wings" mentioned earlier in this thread -- that's a reference to one of the prizes in the Buzz Testosterone Room.

Another option that makes sense....????
Classic Country on 106.7 and a nifty new power increase, ESPN Sports on WSM 650, forces the hands of Citadel out of Country?

Ain't going to happen, as long as Gaylord owns 650. While they still have about a year-and-a-half to go on the JSA, Gaylord would do well to let sales revert back to their own company and then decide what they want to do.

That's weird. I could have swore I heard a promo with two guys called Free Beer and Hot Wings this morning during Bob And Tom???

Uh, yeah, what I meant to have written was:
By the way, that billboard reference to "free beer and hot wings" mentioned earlier in this thread -- that's a reference to one of the prizes in the Buzz Testosterone Room AND it just happens to be the name of morning show syndicated out of Grand Rapids. The show's doing quite well and it skews alot better 18-34 than the aging Bob and Tom, making it much more attractive to a certain local Rock station that's trying to improve it's image among the 18-34 crowd.

(In the future, remind me before I sign onto this board to check with my peeps first after I've been away from civilization for several days...)

Well, I guess it makes sense then that Bob and Tom will skew 97.1 since they are younger than Coyote???
Maybe it will be a positive move for both Crumulus and Crumwell...I love all the C-Corps...

wow Tibbs...that's faint praise. ;D
who isn't younger than Coyote? I'm a Coyote fan...and glad to see him do well, but you
comment hit me as funny. And what's with the other posters bashing Bob and Tom?
Just my opinion, but they're one of the few shows to be successful in syndication and
stay successful in their local market (Q95 Indy). And they "prove" my most basic theory
for being successful on the radio: they're perceived as real people having fun.

Or 102.9 might consider local talent mornings for a while. But who? Jake Wylde sounds good.

Sounds good, but do they have the C. O. Jones to put in a local morning show as smart and funny as Jake? His show is probably one of the best in Nashville with huge female numbers and the question is........who will make money off him first? Cumulus is keeping him hidden from view for some unknown reason (read "hallway politics") and have zero interest in his abilities. So the smartest call for Cromwell is to bring in Jake and #8, let them play music in the mornings and sit back and watch the station improve.

Cromwell will only do so well in this market because of signals and the way the company is run. I've worked there so I speak from experience. They will never be a major player in this market with the stations they have. Why everyone is so fascinated with them is a mystery.

This is the SAME "Free Beer and Hot Wings" that use to air on 104.5 The Bone in Knoxville before they changed formats from "Classic Rock that really ROCKS" to hip-hop HOT 104.5.

Evangelist, the current fascination from my point of view as a market-watcher has come from the steps that've been taken recently to improve the company and the two local stations. Since you have worked there, I understand the skepticism -- I've never been an employee but in the process of doing my job, I've had some very unpleasant run-ins with some of their past employees while they were representing the stations. To me, seeing them leave and some quality people coming on board, plus some steps taken to improve their image and marketing, makes them interesting to watch. I do agree that they won't be a major player, but it's good to see them doing a better job of carving out a niche than they once did.

Jetfli--I agree that bringin in quality people will improve things at Cromwell. I'm wondering, though, how much of leash they'll be on. The mentality of its management seems not to change.

CR -- I dunno what I meant by that faint praise?!?!? Sorry, I guess I am just to old to remember!!!

Posting the actual news release is unprofessional and tacky.
This site is about communication and not about newsprinting.

Copy and pasting is lazy, must be a copywriter or production person.

Bob and Tom have great ratings and it would make sense for Cumulus to want them on their stations. Great call Cumulus. :)

If that was a copy and paste job of an actual news release, I'd get a new copywriter. The spelling, grammar, and form wouldn't cut it elsewhere.

B&T only had okay ratings locally. Ratings don't imply quality, class, talent, or a justification for air time.

i heard that bob and tom got the boot from the BUZZ on wednesday a little ahead of schedule for the Free Beer and Hot Wings show.....where do Bob and Tom go to in Nashville if anywhere???

According to this morning's Tennessean, Coyote & Cathy were told yesterday they will be replaced by Bob & Tom.
